If you are wagering a decent amount, just ask the teller for some drink tickets. It also helps to keep the wheels greased. A $10 tip or wager for the teller works wonders. Playing horses, take your losing tickets to the bar, they'll scratch them, give you a free drink. Once again, tip the man.
All the casinos have had to adopt these procedures because a guy named Promark had been mooching off the casinos for years now.
It's called the Promark Rule.

Funny, yes....true?...not really....You cannot really believe that some bum who drank without betting created a new "drink policy" in Las Vegas?......and, no, the bartender cannot give out free drinks for losing tickets....no one looks at the betting tickets, only the "drink tickets".....
As for the "tip them for tickets" rule....it works better at a local than at a high-end strip book.....lower-end books have clerks that don't get much in tips, those are the ones where you can get more drink tickets for a tip.

#5 Posted: 2/26/2013 7:23:03 PM You are way too serious VegasGourmet.
I was in Las vegas all last week and can tell you as a fact, I never paid for a drink while I was out there. It was at the MGM and not the Bellagio, but they are owned by the same group, so I doubt if the policies are all that different.
Stick to the Four Queens. I'm sure that's as close to upscale as you get.
Thanks for your "advice" though. I'll be sure to remember your words of wisdom in the future. |

#6 Posted: 2/26/2013 8:25:09 PM It works the EXACT same as MGM and most other books. You must wager a minimum amount and they give you free drink tickets. I was staying at Bellagio in Sept 2012 and received drinks from waitress without showing any tickets (even though i had sports wagered tickets on me). This past Feb 2013 (superbowl) was staying at MGM and went to Bellagio on the Tues Feb 5 and found this out. |

#7 Posted: 2/27/2013 8:42:57 AM Last time I was in Bellagio about a year ago I was told only betting on horses would garner you free drinks. Threw the waitress a 20, made a couple of periodic small bets on some ponies, and got hammered, all while watching sports.

#10 Posted: 2/27/2013 8:12:41 PM Thanks for clarifying. Guess Ill stick to the mirage and MGM Grand where a good 5 dollar tip to the ticket writers gets me a massive amount of drink tickets. |

#11 Posted: 2/27/2013 8:24:05 PM as was said a billion times, they give out free drinks if you bet enough. sometimes you have to ask.

I always got drinks at the Belagio SP whenever I place a bet............ just kidding. Please read his post, has anyone been to the B SP in Feb?
Jody, I have this problem all the time on here. Come to think of it, I had the same problem with my ex wife. I would ask 1 thing and she would always answer a different question i didn't ask. Come to think of it, have the same problem 50% of the time with the GF. Maybe the ex is correct, it's me!!! |
