#1 Posted: 5/21/2012 4:29:23 PM Good Day everyone!
I will be traveling to vegas in mid September. Looking for the better choice of these two hotels.
I'm going for a wedding at the MGM. I will be traveling alone. The hotel will more or less be a palce to sleep. I want to keep a low budget for hotel and air.
I don't figure I will spend too much time in my room other then sleeping. Walking didtance to the MGM will be important.
Any advice between choosing one of these two would be great.
Thanks |

#4 Posted: 5/22/2012 1:40:20 AM They are next door to each other and, Luxor is a higher-grade MGM property than Excalibur (which is catty corner from the Grand)....why not look at NY/NY, another MGM property which is across the strip from the Grand and has a walkway that goes directly into the Grand.
I would prefer NY/NY for amenities, food and service. |

#5 Posted: 5/22/2012 6:44:47 AM Agree with VG; NYNY is the best choice if not staying at the MGM.
Lux is better than Ex and a free monorail will drop you off at the corner anyway.
If you REALLY want to save some coin, Hooters is directly across the street from the MGM. Low rates...low amenities.
Have fun regardless. |

#6 Posted: 5/22/2012 6:42:40 PM I put some family that came to visit in the Luxor and I was highly disappointed with the room. The hotel is nice, but the rooms are outdated, and there was a great deal of bird garbage on the window.
NYNY would be your best option if you can get it cheap.
I would even suggest Tropicana which has been renovated.

#7 Posted: 5/23/2012 7:09:00 PM Excalibur. Stayed at Luxor last year and it was the WORST hotel I have stayed at in Vegas. Been there every year since 05 and have stayed at Excalibur 3 times. If you are like me and my friends we go down to get fucked up, gamble and bang girl. At 4 in the morning it doesn't matter where you are staying they will follow.
If you are going down with your girl NY/NY is a good one. Also like the new Aria. Stayed there last year at a very reasonable price plus you are rightin the middle of the strip.
Anyways have a great time. |

#8 Posted: 5/24/2012 4:58:49 AM Thanks for some great ideas guys. Looks like I just might check in at the Luxor. NY NY and Tropicana came in about $100 more for the package.
Really will just need a place to crash. So this seems like it will do the trick.

#12 Posted: 5/31/2012 7:38:16 AM hate the location of the Luxor.... Excalibur theme is just garbage, and kids, it's almost Circus Circus, lol...... you said wedding is at MGM and u just want cheap place sleep etc? Try the Tropicana right across, they really renovated it nicely, and can walk the tunnel right to MGM.

#14 Posted: 7/21/2012 4:14:25 PM Cab fare will cost you about $13 to Trop, its very close to the airport. You can also get a shuttle that will run you $7 but may take a few minutes longer to get there with multiple stops. |

#15 Posted: 7/22/2012 11:44:47 AM Luxor of the two, and it is not even close.
But stay at the MGM if the wedding is there.
If u are worried about 100 bucks, stay home !!!
