my opinion is that people do not like to bet hockey and baseball as much as, say, basketball and football because there is very little anticipation of a score. Hockey even more so than baseball.

I think this is also one reason that these sports are simply less popular to watch.

Football is so popular to bet because of the way the scoring happens. You cheer your team on as they get closer and closer to a score and this can take a while. In hockey it'll all happens in 5 seconds and it's over. As much as people like winning, people also gamble for the thrill of it and football delivers that rush better than anything else in sports.

More than a couple years ago I hit a few games tracking tie game results and who was due for one..If one of those teams were getting half a goal, that was the bet.Home /Road didn't matter really.

Used to listen to Devils/Rangers games on the RADIO,talk about tough bets to sweat

when i was in Vegas back in May I had the pleasure to sit down with a guy named Bob Davis. he is the manager of Leroy's Race & Sportsbook. i think he was like roommates in college with my buddy's dad or something years ago, that's how we met up with him and bullshitted with him. his job is to adjust the spreads accordingly with the amount of money that is being placed on each side. awesome friggin job and super sweet yearly bonuses.

he was telling me how hockey is by far the least bet on sport and how basketball and football are by far the most bet on sport. he was saying how baseball isn't bet on very heavily either but it's def the best sport to bet on if your trying to beat the casino.

also he said that a dead give away to whether or not the better is betting for fun or for a living is if he bets any parlays. apparently none of the big wigs mess with parlays at all. he was also saying how teasers are becoming very popular amongst the big players.

he is a cool behind dude and i wish i wasn't so hammered when we met up with him so i could have had a better conversation/ interview. just thought i'd share with you guys.

You can bet hockey at all the casinos. The games migth not all be televised if they are against the other sports, but you can bet them.

Who gives a crap if other people are betting on it or not.

If you're in Vegas this weekend on vacation - not a pro capper, and you walk up to the board - you are not thinking hockey.

The totals in college football games go from 40 - 75

Spreads are pick 'em to 40 - possibilities are endless with straight bets, teasers, parlays, etc.

NHL lines nearly identical on every game : The total is 5.5 or 6. The puck like is -1.5 (juice varies a bit ) ML yawn

Just my opinion - and I like hockey too

I've bet on a couple games. People will get more into it when MLB is over on weekdays.
