i sometimes play it, i play 2 hands, $40 (to keep the commission even so i dont get the quarters) each and usually $20-$25 on bonus. i wouldnt even think of playing this game without the bonus, thats where the money is, all it takes is 1 hand. more often than not, i do well playing pai gow, just takes patience. |

#4 Posted: 3/16/2011 7:02:27 PM Every time i play this game at least 50% of the table dont play the bonus. I'm just curious of why people that play this game dont play the bonus, when they get asked or when i ask why they dont play it no one answers.
few months i walk by a guy at a pai gow he hits a 7 card straight flush playing $100 a hand but no bonus, after that hand he plays $25 on the bonus every hand.
last week i was playing pai gow a kid sitting at the next table was playing $15 a hand with no bonus hits 5 aces and he nearly cries. |

No idea why some ppl dont play the bonus, (most ppl that i see that dont play the bonus are asians). I wouldnt touch the game without playing the bonus!!! doesnt matter if i played $1.00 or $100 on the bonus, id still play it, just like you said, ppl hit 5 aces etc and dont get paid!!! the bonus is where the money is but it is a great drinking game!!!
now, pai gow tiles i have never learned to play. i have a chinese friend who bets about $700 a hand in it (but for some reason he doesnt play the regular pai gow) and he tried to teach me but i could never learn it. but its the same idea i believe, a high hand and a low hand but with dominoes. (he knows what he has just by the feel of the dominoes without looking at them) but i still cant understand it for the life of me. |

#9 Posted: 3/23/2011 1:18:27 AM i have always wanted to play and will make it a point to play when i go to vegas in august. i had a question though. does the "banker" always rotate with the players or is the house always the banker? I guess I am asking if each player takes a turn as the banker, do they sit that hand out? |

Players are never obligated to bank but is given an opportunity to be the Banker. The Casino always is the Banker every other hand. If you take the Bank you must cover every bet on the table. Of course you are not covering the bonus bets. Always play the bonus. Good luck. |

so why would anybody in their right mind act as the banker if they have to cover the other players bets or am I not getting something here? |

Players would want to be the Banker for couple of reasons. The Banker always wins tie hands. That's part of the Casino's edge. Also when a player banks he gets the House's hand. Especially when the House is on a good run. Order of deal is always predetermined by a random generator. The Banker is always the number one position. The last reason is simply some players are aholes and just wants to take other players money. :) |

If you are the Banker, you have to cover every wager on the table. Also you have to put up a bet againt the casino. |

You cover all of the other players wagers and the casino (house) will make a bet too; Which you must cover.
When I've seen this done, the house will ask you how much you want the house to wager.
Between the minimum and maximum amounts for that particular table. |

#16 Posted: 3/29/2011 4:21:07 PM years ago before there was any bonus high hand or low hand I decided to be banker.
k friggin high lost over $700 on that hand as I was playing against a bunch of older men. I was about 20 years old at the time.
Best ive done is 5 card straight flush and 10 high which paid 75-1. on $15 bet. |

#17 Posted: 4/12/2011 4:39:16 PM Socal paigow players- Barona casino in San Diego offers a paigow with no comission. Only catch is if they have a queen high paigow everyone at the table pushes. Thats a pretty good deal considering dealers rarely get that crappy of a hand .
Will be in vegas for 6 days hope to see all you guys winning at the pai gow table |

#18 Posted: 4/12/2011 6:16:47 PM I really want to play this game, but dont know how and i am always hesitant to sit at the tables for the first time and play a game that i have never played before in fear of looking like a jackass. I need a easy, leisurely table game to play bc i hate BJ and Craps is iffy...all i do is play poker and hit the sports book...which gets old after a while. Pai Gow sounds like a good game to play that wont burn through your wallet in a heart beat and you can just relax and drink and not worry about losing a fortune with the chance of actually winning pretty often. |

#19 Posted: 4/20/2011 1:29:19 PM been playing online (for fun) just to learn the game, but they dont have the bonus... what is that exactly? Is it when you place the exact same wager as your original bet and you get paid out if your 7 cards has a straight or higher? Does the bonus bet have to match your original bet? |

#20 Posted: 4/21/2011 4:53:26 PM got a royal flush last year at the palms during march madness and only had 2 dollars on it, paid 250-1.. made a good bit but wish I had a 5 or 10 on there... can't wait to be off the college budget. This year a lot of places on the strip were 5 minimum but no royal flush
love pai gow, always play the bonus! |

#21 Posted: 4/22/2011 12:32:10 PM Great game to play if you are in Vegas for 4 or more days. It allows you to kill some time with little risk to your bankroll. Was introduced to the game by my buddies father who sat at a table at the old Barbary Coast for 10 straight hours one trip. It's a vivid memory becasue the guy(?) next to him had a strange pair of juggs. |

#24 Posted: 5/2/2011 6:45:46 PM Never played it b4 but looks like Chinese Poker, which I'm very familiar with.
Where's that lowest table limit on Strip as wanting to start out slow?
Joker is wild for any card? Can it be use in top or bot hand?
How is bonus work? Must bottom hand contain that winning bonus hand? For example, trip A and 2-6 straight is better hand than AA6 and A-5 straight flush but should you play 2nd way to get that straight flush bonus?

#25 Posted: 5/4/2011 2:49:57 PM Joker is aces, straights and flushes only. Joker can be used on either hand. Bonus pays off total seven cards, no matter if they on 5 card or 2 card poker hands.
Being banker, when you lose a hand you pay 95% of amount wagered by player. |
