I run a book with a buddy of mine. Recently, a kid I went to HS with wanted an account. Set him up, he lost, chased, lost. U know the deal. Now this is a measly 800 bucks were talking about, but he said he isn't paying another dime. Says he's going to the cops if touched. I could give 2 sh$ts bout the money, it's all about the respect. I want that money, period. Here's what I'm thinkin: 1) go to his parents n explain the situation (I have met his parents a few times, nice ppl) 2) bash his head in 3) bash his windshield. I figure I will try his parents first (whom he lives with, and I think they've paid his debts before), if not I beat his a$$ myself or get someone to do it (which is probably much more smart, liability wise) cause I really don't think the cops will care about some loser who won't man up n pay a debt. How much of a girl is this dude tho, seriously. Haven't gambled in awhile, still going strong, nice to be back here with u guys though. Let me know what u guys think.

I don't know about the other options of kicking his behind. Remb if he does go to the cop (even if its gambling or money he owe you but you got no proof) by beating his behind you are committing a crime and cop will have to do something if they have proof that you did. I say just go to parents and see or tell him you give him a payment plan.  Of course you can always get people to take care of it but it will cost money but then it might go back to you if the law enforcement are involved...LOL just hire ppl that don't mind going to jail..

booking is a risk business...sometime people run off with 60k and you can't do much about it. its a risk you got to take doing the business. usually its not a big deal if someone run if they end up breaking even or the book make money off them already. Unless you win then you lose and not pay then there might be trouble since you are taking the book money and run..

Yeah but in Bronx Tale its $20, not $800.

@pjd. I would threaten him, maybe threaten to go to his parents, thats about all you can do. Maybe contact some of his friends or people you both know and let them know what a scumbag he really is.

If he has a little brother, beat him up. Then go to his parents. Dad will kick his behind for you.

You are right. It is about respect and the principal. This kid needs to learn a lesson. Harrass him until he caves in. Be relentless don't give up. Find out where he works, sleeps, eats, and shits. Send him a warning message. Punks need to learn how this goes. You need to show your teeth though before you bite. Fear is powerful. He WILL pay up.

Great post, I plan to just harass him until he caves. The thing that really pisses me off is his reasoning is because his limit per bet was raised from 60 a night to 150. Just because he's a degenerate loser who can't control himself, he says he was 'set up.' Bunch of bull garbage. I used to be friends with this bum too, unbelievable. My uncle has some connections I am gonna ask him if he might be able to help me.

Well, the first thing you shouldn't do before perpetrating a crime is come onto the worldwide web from your own pc no doubt and explain you intentions.

Second, you can't spend respect, so lets not say anything other than it is, you want the money.

Third, why would his parents settle an illegal Internet bet and why risk a lot more in legal costs that a measly 800 bucks. Guys disappear over tens of thousands, not 800 bucks.

In the business world, you just cut your losses and move on. Just make sure everyone knows why kind of person he is.

And then down the road, when he isn't thinking about it anymore, torch his friggin car in his parents driveway.

Honestly....it's an $800 lesson.

BUT....here is what you do...

You tell EVERYONE he knows what a scumbag is and what he has done. You tell his friends, co-workers.....THAT will be worth MORE than $800 to him....

Yes, my local PD is monitoring 'covers.com/nflforum/possible rightful behind beatings' to track me down. As Andy Reid once said 'uhhhhh no'

I'm not really the car torching type, but thanks for the input. Telling everyone he's a scumbag is something I am going to add to the arsenal

cash up front man. For small time bettors like that always cash up front. Make em deposit their balance before they bet. Only give credit lines to people you trust and/or bigger betting clients. It might be kinda hard sometimes to get the money from your bigger clients but they'll give it they just think less of the money

Meetin him tonight for 300. He thinks its the last 300 he has to pay. I will break the news to him he still owes 5 when I get the money. His pu$$yass won't pay anything if he thinks its not the last he has to pay, so this is how I'm going about it.

The bottom line is when you make a bet you honor it period. This is one of the most core rules of your integrity as a man. The $ amount is completely irrelevant. Whether it is $5 or $50,000 the debt must be paid.

Respectfully, the OP knows this. We all know this. However, the only person who should know this in this situation, does not.

True and that's why it is the job of the collector to make him aware of this and be very assertive about it.

I will add that it is up to the collector to accept less than the owed amount if the collector decides to show leniency. But that is ONLY up to the collector NOT the debtor to decide.

Only 1 resolution to this matter, no other just one. Kindly approach him once more and convey to him that he has 5 days to pay in full, not a minute more. Explain that he would rather have cancer of the brain than not have the money on the 5th day. If day 5 passes, you gotta go to work. Word gets around that your a soft book then others will try to beat you also.

Got 300 of it. Still owes 5. 20% a week juice going forward. I agree that i can't let him get away with it considering i am a new book around here. He wasn't even man enough to meet me himself. Instead gave it to my friend.

Took out all my built up aggression in my men's league ice hockey game last night. Scored to make it 3-0 after they killed off a 4 minute PP and had all the momentum. They never recovered. 4-3 win. How about this Ray Lewis breaking news?! Used PEDs to recover from torn biceps?
