Bengals + 5
The Bengals have hit their stride this season winning 7 of their last 8 games and the Texans on the other hand have lost 3 of their last 4. The Texans have become a different team since their bye week. Before their bye week, the Texans ranked ninth on offense and second on defense. After their bye week, they ranked 20th on offense and eighth on defense. One of the big reasons for their turnaround is because of 3rd down. In the first seven weeks, the Texans converted 46 percent of the time on third or fourth down. Since their bye week, they've converted only 32 percent. The Bengals defense will exploit this with their pass rush which has been great all season. Another positive for the Bengals has been the Law Firm in the second half of the season. When he can get the ground game going they are able to setup their play action pass with deep threat AJ Green and can use TE Gresham as well. Yes, the Texans are 7th against the rush but I believe it has been against weak competition especially in their division with Indy, Jacksonville, and Tennessee. The Texans only 2 wins against playoff teams were against Baltimore and Denver but that was in the first half when this was a different team. Marvin Lewis will have this team extremely motivated and just being in the playoffs is not enough for a Bengals franchise anymore.
Green Bay -9
9 points is a lot to give to a division opponent even though its on the road but the Packers at Lambeau in January are just tough to beat. Rodgers can play in any weather and Ponder has yet to be in weather like this. AP is going to get his yards but can he completely carry this team again? The Packers convert in the red zone 68% of the time while the Vikes convert only 53% of the time. The Packers are going to want to put up points in this game and make Ponder play from behind. Ponder is also nursing a sore elbow in this throwing arm which will make things worse if they get down early. The Packers are getting healthy at the right time too and they are going to have Nelson, Woodson, and Cobb back into their lineup. Giving Rodgers all these weapons along this kid Harris in the running game should mean a lot of points. Can the Vikings match the Pack on the road? I don't think so.
