Enough of this "Atlanta still isn't a top team" nonsense

This is ridiculous. They didn't beat the Giants today, they DESTROYED the Giants. They shut them out. That performance, even if it wasn't a playoff game is still impressive. 

I even saw some IDIOT today write that the Giants, Seahawks, Packers and a bunch of other teams are better than the Falcons. Yeah, the Giants sure showed it today.  

The Giants may not even make the playoffs now. How can anyone tell me that a team who probably won't make the playoffs is better than a 13-2 team who just whooped their azzess. 

I know the Falcons haven't had success in the playoffs before, always a one and done and I get it. But this is a new year and a new team. Let's give them credit for the wins they've gotten so far and see where it goes. 

By everyones logic bashing the Falcons today there are NO TOP TEAMS in the NFL. Every team has ugly wins and bad losses. That doesn't mean squat. Today was a statement game and man did they ever make a statement.

We wont know for 5 weeks until the playoffs....

They seem to play well in regular season then lay an egg....

I hope they get home advantage....

Let's see, last week many here over-reacted to the Pats big win over the 11-1 Texans, and now we have those over-reacting to a 34-0 blow-out of the defending SB Champs.

Atlanta is not that good, would not count on much playoff success this year, not because of the past playoff failures but because they just ain't all that...........................................................................

13-2?  

People probably say that because they know IF the Giants make the playoffs, they know they CAN win a game.  We don't know that about the Falcons yet.

You're not annoying, you're just plain stupid. Making arguments that contradict your own statements.

Saying the Falcons almost lost to the Raiders in week 6, but completely ignoring the Seahawks lost to the mighty Dolphins within the last month is asinine.

Right now obviously I'd rather be the Falcons.  But the Giants have won 2 super bowls in the last what, 5 years?  I mean you cant harp on them too much.  The Falcons haven't proved anything to anyone in my book.  And I actually like their team.

By the way, I have a futures bet for the Seahawks to win the Super Bowl at 35-1, picked it up about 5 weeks ago. So I am rooting for the Seahawks. But if they have to go on the road and play a top team, they're not gonna win.

Beating Buffalo in Toronto does not constitute a nice road win. And don't give me Chicago because that team can't get out of its own way.

I agree, I dont necessarily think they'll win the Super Bowl either. And they must prove it in the playoffs. 

But I'm talking about right now and so far they have impressed.

Atlanta offense is good with 3 top weapons (Julio, Roddy, and Tony Gonzalez). Ryan is playing like an MVP but the biggest reason for the Falcons success is their defense under Mike Nolan.

Combined stats of the 3 TOP QB's Falcons faced this year at home (Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Eli Manning) :

43.86 Passer Rating

Falcons are #4 in the league in Scoring Defense, they will be a tough out for anyone especially playing in the Georgia Dome where Matt Ryan has the highest winning % for a starting QB in NFL history.

Yes, Green Bay and that amazing offensive line. You just better hope you get past the first round because we know you're not getting a first round bye. 
And you also better hope you don't face a team with a big time pass rush, otherwise its one and done.

This isn't the Packers teams of old. The O line is broken down and can't protect Rodgers at all.

No, Matt Ryan beat the GB at home in 2010 in regular season (lost in Playoffs). https://espn.go.com/nfl/boxscore?gameId=301128001

Last year, the Packers

Youre right....they are struggling up front.  8-1 in their last 9 games.  I hope they figure something out before the playoffs.

 

Im glad they dont have a 1st round bye.  Thats why they lost last year.  Their starters had 3 weeks off and came out and laid an egg.

GB is playing better every week, thats all that matters this time of year

And, I might be incorrect, but if Sea beats SF next week we would get a bye.  But, I would rather not have it

Great stats. Also, everyone is so quick to point out ATL's past failures in the playoffs but don't forget all three of their losses in the Ryan/Smith era have come to teams who went to the superbowl(two of them won). Some of the best quarterbacks in history have struggled in the playoffs(especially early in their career) or lost 3 playoff games in a row.

If Green Bay wins out and the Niners lose next week yes, you'll have a bye. But I don't see how the niners losing. 

I know Seattle has looked great these last 2 weeks but they were against inferior teams. I think Seattle is gonna play them tough but somehow I feel the niners win. 
Niners have the better defense and probably the better coach. 

By the way, I like the packers. I root for them so you don't have to convince me but they have flaws. The secondary and O line is what I would be concerned about. 

Yes they're 8-1 in their last 9, but have only played 2 quality opponents in that stretch. Great win against the Texans, but when they played the Giants their O line was exposed badly. And it may come back to haunt them against a team like the Niners or Seahawks.

Ok, so he is 1-2 at home against GB.  Either way, half of his career home losses came from GB

We beat them in the playoffs when we won the ring, and last year during the season.

Once again, for people who are unaware, GB game against NY was an unimportant game or them.  After beating Det the week before, they were due for a huge letdown as the season was in their hands from here on out.

It doesnt make sense to those who dislike my threads, dislike GB...but if people really think GB gave an effort so be it.  But, if you think GB kicking a fg 4th and 2 from the 38, and 4th and a chain link from the 10 in the 1st half is trying to win the game, then you have no idea about GB football. 

 

Everybody talks GB is overrated all because they lost the first game last year in the playoffs.

They won the superbowl, then won 15 games.  They had 4 weeks off before playing a meaningful game, including 3 weeks of non-game action for the starters.  It was awful for a team with a system like GB, and they laid an egg against NY.

They have 4 losses this year, 3 on the road, all 4 of which are playoff teams.  If that is overrated, then WOW.

People say GB is awful on defense.  They are 9th in points allowed.  Take away the robbery TD against Sea and they are 7th.  Not bad for an awful defense.

They are getting healthier and better every week, inclduing a run game.

Same exact run the year they won it all.  If people say they are not worried about playing GB in the playoffs then good for them.  i bet you their team is

Seattle was very close to winning in SF, and that was before they were rolling like this.  Seattle has very good wins at home this year.  I like Seattle to win this week

Actually it's just 1 regular season home game was against GB, the other 3 are (Broncos in his rookie season and Saints twice).

GB is pretty good but the tough teams they faced this year (49ers, Giants, Texans, Colts, Seahawks) they all have losses to except for Texans.

Falcons will most likely win their division round game against the NFC East champion (went 4-0 against NFC East this year) or wild card team so they're most likely not gonna be one & done. However, we will have to wait & see but I think this Falcons team is way different compared to the past and it's because of the new OC & DC who aren't running vanilla schemes.

GB beat Atl in 2010 when they won the superbowl.  Atl was the #1 seed and GB was #6, and GB was favored

They also won last year on a Sunday Night game
