I was pissed, I was counting my money on the prop of Tynes scoring over 8 1/2 points for the game, which I feel I was robbed of. I was thinking the same thing as you - it would have definitely been the topic of discussion had Brady pulled it out. Instead of very little chance to score, Pats would have had NO chance if Bradshaw kneels down at the 1, Pats would have used last timeout on third down, then on fourth down Giants would have kicked FG with about 10 seconds left. I think you will start to see this more, it comes up once or twice a season and now it has gotten a lot of publicity because it was in a SB.

Supposedly coach Coughlin, also Eli reportedly was yelling it on the field "Don't score, don't score". Didn't it look like he couldn't stop? Or perhaps it was just an act?

4th Q (14:12) (Run formation) A.Bradshaw right end to NYG 13 for 5 yards (B.Spikes). FUMBLES (B.Spikes), recovered by NYG-C.Snee at NYG 11. C.Snee to NYG 11 for no gain (V.Wilfork).--CBS sportsline
Dammmn Bradshaw could have busted Giants the game on that fumble deep down in their own territory if not recovered by Snee.

Absolutely true, Europa. Giants were certainly fortunate catching lots of breaks during the SB run, but no doubt they were the best team. They allowed 56 points in their 4 post season games to the best teams in the league. You can only argue what their biggest break was. Take your pick:
- Niners knocking off Saints, saving Giants trip to New Orleans
- Punt barely touching Williams knee in SF
- Welker dropping pass in SB
- Romo overthrowing Austin for wide open TD which would kept Giants out of playoffs
- Their crucial fumbles not counting because of "forward progress" or defensive fouls
Whoever wins the SB every year always catches those breaks, but they make the most of the opportunities. Gaints may have been the first 9-7 to win the SB, but they definitely deserved to do so.

“I just yelled, ‘Don’t score! Don’t score!’ Obviously, he heard me (because) he thought about it. I know it’s tough for a running back. They see a big hole right there going for a touchdown.”
Manning wanted him to stop a yard short of the end zone that would have allowed Giants to set up a field goal, but things were happening way too fast for Bradshaw.
Bradshaw said:
"I thought I heard Eli yelling at me to fall down. I tried, but I couldn't do it."
Fortunately for Giants, Patriots’ last attempt at scoring failed.
Patriots’ quarterback, Tom Brady, sent a Hail Mary pass, which was dropped by his tight end, Rob Gronkowski, in the end zone.
Meanwhile, Giants’ coach, Tom Coughlin, has also expressed his views about the touchdown.
He too wanted Bradshaw to set up a field goal rather than scoring a touchdown.
However, he maintained that the running back did the right thing as he was not officially instructed to do otherwise.
The coach said:
“Anything that would have become as a result of that would have been my fault because I really didn’t instruct the runner not to score.”

What's your take, Archie? Going for the TD or running down the game clock and kick a field goal if you are the coach of the Giants?
I can see both sides. Sure, a no -score forces them to use their last timeout and uses clock, you trot your field goal kicker and win the game that way. (assuming he doesnt crank it.)
But, I can very easily see where you take the score that they are willing to give. you gaurantee that yo now have a 4 pt lead with 57 secs.
i was just responding to the factual claim that Coughlin instructed Bradshaw not to score.... as this was not the case. Neither did Eli tell Bradshaw beforehand not to score. the premise of this thread is factually wrong.
Eli apparently did yell at him as he was approaching the goal line not to score. but that is different than being instructed not to score and scoring anyway.

i'll take a sure TD with 57 seconds left myself and not risking a possible crank FG try with 10 seconds left for the Pats.
And i see Coughlin did not instruct Bradshaw not to score that TD.
by the way, i like that Charlie Chaplin avatar.

Yes, when you look at it ,,,, Giants went from down 2 to up 4 with that gimme touchdown. just imagine the hoopla if perhaps they fumble the ensuing snap ./ fumble.... and the Pats took over.

Very Awkward the way he fell in... Listen, First off he was only told to get down by Eli after he saw the defense open up for him. Bradshaw looked like he was trying to stop but simply fell in.
TD! Giants WIN!

SF beating the Saints allowed the Giants to win the superbowl.

There is always existing the possibility of blocking field goal attemp.
Good one, Mr. Chaplin.
