Why so much love for the pats??

I am putting a TON on the giants but I want to know why so many are people on the pats... where do you see an advantage? Please list your reasonings

Revenge for NE. That is a huge factor and will give NE extra motivation.

Cruz and Eli got beat up bad vs SF. Idk if they are seriously hurt but it might effect the play of the 2 best players on the Giants.

Giants offense struggled after halftime vs SF and if not for the 2 gift wrapped fumbles would have been shut out. They only scored 10 points after halftime which came from Kyle Williams. Now I know the Niners have a great defense but the Giants should have been able to move the ball better. NE will use that blueprint against NYG.

Brady will destroy the over rated defense. Giants have a good D-line and pass rush but NE has a better O line.

i don't think revenge plays into anything

Eli n Cruz def got beat up but no injuries... they have two weeks to rest.. and they're athletes... plus cruz isn't their only weapon

agree that they were shutout... but #2 ranked defense away in the rain isn't easy... and its totally different going against 31st ranked defense in a dome... i agree that they will use the blueprint but they still have to execute

"extra motivation"?  in the Super Bowl? 

are you saying they didn't have enough motivation to win the last time, when they had a chance to go 19-0 and make history?

but now that they have revenge, for a game 4 years ago... now they have the proper motivation?

it comforts me to know you will be on the Patriots... i'm guessing you thought the Pats would destroy the Ravens "overrated defense", too...

listen... if patriots had any type of defense or dangerous vertical game... or if giants struggled on offense... it would be such a tough pick... but thats not the case here... and giants have already beaten them this season

AMAZING TREND: no team that has been ranked in the bottom 5 in defense during the regular season has EVER won a Super Bowl... currently 0-45

Not sure where you're seeing everyone on the Pats, but in this forum and in the early consensus numbers, it's all Giants....

I don't know...The Pats offense is clicking right now between the 20's, even with Brady's below average game.  Baltimore did a great job limiting to field goals, but the short passing, 2 tight end sets for New England is very difficult to stop.  Their offense is better now than when they were in their little funk when these teams met the first time.  The Giants should have no problem moving the football, but I don't see them outscoring the Patriots

Dude, go to the consensus page on this site, currently about 64% on Giants. Sportsinsights shows 57% with spread and 76% with moneyline on Giants....

  So if the Giants were ranked #27 in defense regular season, do the fit the profile of that 0-45 trend or get a pass because they're in the bottom six?  That's right, Pats #31 and Giants #27.  Technically you're correct but the statistical differences are minimal.  I can see reasons to back either team but that regular season stat means shit.  Both teams defense obviously are playing better now and it will be the team that takes better care of the rock that wins and covers.  BOL

Why people continue to say Patriots defense sucks? Ravens forced 3 turnovers and still only put up 20 points. Yes patriots give up a lot of yards but were 11th in the league in points allowed.

i agree... but take a look at this

Top 5 teams NY played all season: 
GB, 1st ranked
NO, 2nd ranked
NE, 3rd ranked
PHI, 8th ranked
SF, 11th ranked

You're talking about defense but look at the teams the giants played this season... they faced HEAVILY offensive teams this season with the accept of SF and STILL have a better defense than the pats... Giants have a 9th ranked offense and will be inflated against the 31st ranked defense

Top 5 teams NE played all season: 
PIT, 22nd ranked
NY, 9th ranked 
NYJ, 13th ranked 
SD, 6th ranked
BUF, 14th ranked

Not as strong of a schedule and still ranked 31st in defense... only team with a winning record the patriots beat this year was Baltimore and that was yesterday

giants passing yards per game = 195
patriots passing yards per game = 200

giants total defense = 321 (giants played amazing offenses in reg season)
patriots total defense = 325

  As we've all seen a thousand times, throw those regular season stats out the door in a one game, "one and done spot"  I agree the Giants played a tougher schedule, but game time match ups, game planning, and game time execution, win Super Bowls.  Like I said before, whoever takes care of the ball in the game will most likely win.  Check out stats for TO's in the Super Bowls past if you're fixated on stats.  KISS, you must know what that means, the team with the plus margin in TO's probably wins the game.  No one can predict what will happen as far as that goes, just guess.  BOL

It really sucks that the Giants won because SF would have destroyed the pats. I'm not sure Brady will finish the superbowl anyways, They are gonna hammer his pansy ass

What a stuipd question... I am not going to sit here and call for a blowout, or tell you the Giants suck but really??? All season people bashed thier defence and called this team over rated and a fraud. Can we finaly call it what it is and agree they are a not all the horrible things they have been called all season. Im not even sure if I can bet them or not, Its not going to be a walk in the park to be the Giants, but to ask why any body has love for them... Really??? Even if the do win the super bowl there will be another thread as soon as its over tell us how much the suck. Haters will always hate

Don't see the revenge factor at all, as someone pointed out last night the Patriots only have like 7 players remaining from that team.

The Giants are fully healthy which hasn't been the case during the regular season. I think the people citing Eli and Cruz being "banged up" need to consider these guys get two weeks off. Any bumps or soreness will be gone. I'm not sure what Gronkowski's status will be, but that injury looked nasty and somehow he came back in.

Check out the Giants stats when they have Bradshaw and Osi at full strength.

It's the superbowl, I'm pretty sure "extra motivation" is impossible.
