Um......I thought every casino asks for your I.D. if you cash in for over $10,000. The sportsbook manager at the Stardust a few years back asked for mine & said he wont send the papers in this time but would the next time I went over the $10k. He gave me advice to not cash in more than the amount needed to file papers, i thought that was really cool of him to help me & not send the information in the 1st time.

If I may ask, how much did you cash in for when they asked for your information?

i thought Nevada books asking for your SSN only if your winning ticket exceeding $3,000?

I made a $2000 bet on a +170 moneyline.  Said anything over $5K they get your id.  So it barely goes over and I'm f'ed.

I said no, but they wouldn't give me the cash.  It wasn't even close to $10,000, obviously.

I should have gotten a runner, some scrub give $50 give me the $.

Said they'd keep it internal but I don't trust ANYONE ESPECIALLY NOT THAT PLACE.

I lose a lot, course no ID for that, so it really pissed me off!!!

I should say, anything you get over $5K they ID.

If you bet $5000 on the Packers to beat the Colts Moneyline, they'll get your SSN and ID.  Despite it being a moronic bet.

Can you believe it?

Point of the story is STAY AWAY but if you don't bet in SMALL AMOUNTS at various books instead.

Because with your SSN and ID you can not only go to the IRS, you can also fleece someone's bank account, credit cards, the whole thing

You NEVER give away that info unless it's to a secure institution!  Let alone the freakin WYNN SPORTSBOOK

other books in Nevada would ask for your SSN if the winning ticket is over $3,000? Ask the books and spread them under $3,000 if they have to report anything over $3,000.

Casinos have to report $1,200 in slot jackpot, so they would have a minimum amount on sports winning?

I've bet big like that before, never had an issue when I won.  Just the Wynn.

Go there and ask them their policy.  Ask them if you have Alabama beating Grambling on the Moneyline, you bet $5000 and get $50, they need your ID and SSN.

Watch them get red in the face.

Course if you lose, nothing.  Next time you win, they need the ID and SSN as if you've won all the time.

things must have sure changed since I was there a few years ago..........at least when I was at the Stardust & Mirage. I cashed at the Mirage with no I.D. required there either & it was like $6,000. Do all casinos do this now in Vegas? If so, you gotta start spreading your bets around which is a pain in the butt but what else can you do. 

Imo, you should give them the information, they wont fleece your accounts bro.........& if they said they will keep it internally like the guy told me at the Stardust, thats cool of him.

I'm sure things have changed.  But I'm not trashing Vegas.  I'm trashing the Wynn Sportsbook because they're a police state.

I don't trust no one man, that's what life does to ya.  He says he keeps it internal, but this is how you end up losing your life savings, by giving away your ID and SSN.

You can imagine how I felt....if they're scared, just tell me not to play there anymore, that's fine.  Whatever.

I could have 2 $1K bets and it's fine.

It says they have to ID you, if you exceed $10,000. https://gaming.nv.gov/stats_regs/reg22.pdf

But i've heard that don't exceed $3,000 on each ticket.

Go play at other houses if they don't give you the hassle under same circumstances. Hilton, Caesars Palace and perhaps smaller Imperial Palace might be the option?

Can you get someone you trust that could go in & cash it for you, I dont see any other option. Good luck.................

Exactly.

This is the way we protect ourselves, somebody speaks out and we weed out the bad ones, whether in-person sportsbooks or online sportsbooks.

So like I said, NEVER PLAY AT THE WYNN.

A few weeks back, i went to vegas, and placed a couple of bets, as long as your ammount wagered is 4k or less you dont need SSN, because when you cash out your ticket itll be 8800. if the total ammount is 10k or higher they will ask for your ID and SSN. i did this at a couple of casinos no problem, paris, mgm, harrahs, cosmo, bellagio. its a policy to get down your info with anything exceeding 10k. the floor manager actually told me they dont send in your info for IRS, its just for their records, so i dunno...

was told 'it's just for our records too when i cashed various tix over 8K and had to give up info ( 4 diff. casinos that i can think off: prim/man bay/ ceasars/ luxor)...seems the policy...not sure on exact amount..my guess it's for tracking people who sportsbet enough to move the lines...  ? i dunno

and same like the dude said above about slot hits over $1199 ($1200 and you have to get W4 (or whatever it is) for tax reporting purposes...never got any tax work back from the sportsbook though...    but did report it

I work at a sportsbook in Nevada.  SSN is needed if you cash a ticket for over $10k.  Its normal policy, if anyone wants to know more, its called Title 31, look it up.

funniest thing about this thread is the people who think you should just throw your ID at them and not have a care in the world...


gotta wonder what planet these people are living on, to be so naive about how quickly your life can be ruined (for good) by doing that sort of stuff...

first off, the IRS has no business knowing how much or how little anybody has won gambling, because they are an unconstitutional entity in the first place, which has been known for a good 20-30 years now... every penny they take from us is done so illegally... so, they can fuck off, for starters!

secondly, i do believe there are ways around this... one person mentioned breaking up your bets, so no single bet is cashed over the 5k limit... another way that used to work (not sure if it still does) is to cash out your bet in casino chips... this tells the casino you are planning to re-invest that money, and i do believe it prevents them from being required to report it...

give it a shot!  and oh yea... fuck the IRS!
