I find it to be pretty remarkable that nobody is giving the Bears a shot...

This team is the #2 seed and is getting absolutely no love. I appreciate how dangerous the Packers and Saints are and I can envision one of them making a deep playoff run but seriously, THERE IS NO LOVE for the Bears out there. 

Am I the only one who thinks that a team with a bye and one guaranteed home game plus a very strong D has a great shot? Let me know if I'm crazy here fellas...

Jay Cutler, he probably is the reason that Bears don't win big games. He tends to blunder under heavy pressures, like in the games against Pats earlier this season and Packers yesterday.

Since 1980 only three quarterbacks have won the Super Bowl during the same postseason that they started their 1st career playoff game. Their names?

Joe Montana, Kurt Warner, and Tom Brady. And it happened for all of them in their first full seasons as starters.

i could easily see the bears going to the super bowl. you can never rule out a team with that kind of defense.

Correction: I believe Jeff Holstetler also won in the year he played his first career playoff game. But he was an injury sub like Warner and Brady. Strange.


Jay Cutler is a mental midget. He'll be fortunate to keep it together and not send the Bears to the rail in their first game.

I think this is a legit point.  But I, too, do not trust Cutler.  He's had a 43.5 or less QB rating in 2 of his last 4 games.....and he has been under a 60% completion rating in 4 straight games.  23/16 TD to INT ratio.

He will likely have to play 3 straight decent to above average games.

obviously cutler is an issue but every team in the nfc has issues with the exception of atlanta and chicago has a better defense than atlanta so it's not impossible to think they can beat atlanta.  i think on any given day, any of philly, NO, GB, chicago and atlanta could beat each other.  however, i don't think philly, NO and chicago can sustain a playoff run.  we'll see.

It has nothing to do with Cutler, its the Oline. Bears have the worst Oline in the NFL. Its amazing what Cutler has been able to do this year behind that line. Give Cutler time and he will shred alot of defenses.

They're pretty intimidating with their defense this year.  Hester is the real deal on punt returns, opposing teams would be better off punting it out of bounds.

  Bears have no shot whatsoever.  Did you see them at home against the Pats....or on the road against the Giants.  They stink...and Cutler runs around scared.  They have no shot in my opinion.  Their two bright spots are Julius Peppers and Hester.  That is it. 

Just my opinion.

single reason why they get no love.  Jay cutler.  He is so hit or miss and for him to have consecutive big games...not likely

Bears don't get respect because they have a pop-gun offense.    People don't appreciate defense and special teams play as much as a good offense.    Yet you can win with mediocre offense, if you have good D and special teams.   Just ask Trent Dilfer (Ravens) and Brad Johnson (Buccaneers).

Look at the odds to win the SB, or even to win the NFC.   Falcons, Eagles, Saints have shorter odds than the Bears, even tho the Bears would host vs all but the Falcons.    Crazy stuff.   They have a great homefield advantage because they have the worst field in the NFL.   They play in slop because in neutralizes opponents pass rush, going against their terrible O-line.    So, Bears only have to win 2 games to win the NFC, and at least 1 of them is at home.

Bears have a decent shot to at least win the conference, and they offer great value on a futures play IMO.

There's some truth in that.    Cutler has arguably the worst O-line in the NFL.   Bears allowed 56 sacks, #32 in the league.   And the receivers are nothing special either.    They don't get separation.  Every time I see them with a defender it's like they are conjoined twins, they are so close together.  

I think Cutler would be much better if he had even average offensive talent around him

Bears have just as good a shot as anybody in the NFC in my humble opinion.

You are right they are getting no love. The Bears defense is legit and I think they are hoping for the Eagles to beat the packers. Packers/Bears usually play each other pretty close. Bears already beat Eagles earlier this season and wouldn't mind playing them again.

I think most people are concerned with Cutler making a horrible throw late in the game. The bears are a solid team but I'm going to ride the Packers until they get knocked out of the playoffs.

Who are you afraid of the Pats facing in the AFC? which team scares you?

I actually like the Bears in a potential second round matchup vs. the Saints assuming the Packers beat Philly.  Call me crazy but its true...any one of the six NFC teams can make the SB and it wouldn't surprise me if its the Bears.  They have a great defense and great special teams and if they can sustain offense and not turn the ball over this team is a true sleeper for the SB.

Pitt/Indy. I think people are over-rating Balty, I don't see the Jets being able to beat us in Foxboro. The Chiefs are a dominant run team but NE plays good against the run so I think we are ok there.

Pitt: NE supposedly has their number but make no mistake this is the toughest game that we could have in the AFC. Pitt is battle tested, has a strong D, a respectable offense and will give us a great.

Indy: I loathe Jacksonville for not beating them two weeks ago. I just think that Manning has this inexplicable magic and despite his team being injury ridden and quite frankly not that good he scares me. I think if this team played 10 seasons in a row together they would probably average 9.5 wins a season but in a 1 and done post-season scenario I just don't want to see them.

You arent crazy.....They have a "shot"........But Cutler isn't a superbowl QB......I agree with Andarmac, Cutler is a mental midget and is capable of messing the game up by himself for the Bears at any point in time

On another note, I think the only 2 teams that can beat the Patriots are the Jets and Indy, and fortunately for the Pats they wont have to face both of them........

Lance Briggs and Brian Urlacher aren't bright spots? Robbie Gould and Brad Maynard aren't bright spots? Their defense as a whole, their special teams as a whole, a decent offense, a bye, and home field in at least their 1st game aren't bright spots?

And why only bring up their losses. There isn't a team in the NFL that didn't have a bad loss. They also beat the Eagles, Packers, and Jets you know. Three playoff teams right there.

Let me ask you this. Why would the Packers and the Eagles have a shot in the NFC while the Bears have no shot when the Bears have already proven to be able to beat those two teams? Oh ya, and Drew Brees and the Saints in Chicago... lost in '08, lost in '07 in week 17 when they needed a win to make the playoffs, and were knocked out of the playoffs in the NFC Championship game in '06. Brees also lost in '03 as a Charger. Why all of a sudden is Brees going to win in Chicago when he's failed 4 previous times including 2 playoff/playoff type games? Is Seattle gonna make it to Chicago? Highly doubtful. And if they do does anyone really think the Bears can't beat them? So that leaves Atlanta. Gun to my head I think they lose to Atlanta but to say they have no shot is just wrong. I think it would be a close game throughout.

Hey if Grossman can get the Bears to the SB, Cutler can too.
