Gotta love Rex's honesty in this article. 

I agree that the guy has earned a raise but to laugh in the face of a $100 million contract only because the 2010 guarantee was a mere $5 million.  Where's the love for the game!?

That's the problem with these egotistical a-holes.

They sign a contract for so many years and so much money.....SO PLAY IT OUT AND FULFILL THE TERMS OF YOUR CONTRACT!!!

If you thought you were half as good as the season you just had, you wouldn't have let yourself sign for $1 million a year, now would you?  You were happy with the contract when you were cashing the Jets' checks every week, NOW LIVE UP TO YOUR SIGNATURE.

Pretty soon we'll have guys playing great for a 3-week span and start holding out in October because they think their contract sucks.

IF YOU THINK YOU ARE A BETTER PLAYER THAN SAID CONTRACT STATES, DON'T SIGN IT.

this shit happens with one or two guys every season.  it's all posturing.  they'll get some deal done and he'll be on the field.

This is why there will be a strike next year. The way contracts are set up in this league is all fucked up.

They need to overhaul the entire process.

Its sad that your right on the money with your comment.  This is the best run league in N. America by far and its going to suffer due to the MLB, NBA, and NHL (to a certain extent) handing out the largest and stupidest contracts to players that don't have as much athleticism or skill as an NFL player. 

Players in the NFL put themselves in the line of danger for the love of the game more than any other N. American sport and in return they get semi decent contracts compared to other sports.  I'm not saying we should pay NFL players more or less, I am just saying I understand why NFL players will strike next year.

Five years ago I would have definitely agreed with you, but I'm not sure that's the case anymore.

MLB has played off and really benefited from the end of the steroid era and is now continuing to make a push back towards having the title of "america's favorite pastime." Obv NFL may still be the slight fave in the battle at the moment, like you said a lockout next season is looking highly lightly and who knows if we'll even have football next year. Will everyone go to the UFL? lol

Obv agree with your comment about the contracts, although that's kind of the case across all three of the sports. Look at this year's FA's getting ridiculous contracts in the NBA. Brendan Haywood got $55 mill. Amir Johnson got $34M! lol. Its ajoke

All I know is I CAN'T go a winter without football.  It's the only thing I look forward too on a Sunday, and the sport I wait for between January/February till September.

Redskins fans can laugh because at least they have some recognizable names to laugh at. On the other hand I went to the New York Jets page and found 6 hall of famers, 2 of whom had their best years with the skins.

This is a huge blow if this actually happens. I am not a jets fan but i am a fan of the league. When every team is at full strength, the game is better to watch. He is a entertaining player and a special player. If he does not play? The Jets are in real trouble.

The only chance the Jets have at winning a super bowl. IS with Revis on the field. The defense is good without him but with Revis they are at the top of the league. Jets have no chance without Revis shutting down his side of the field. Also it makes betting on the Jets difficult to do. Screws up the match ups.

Please calm down on Jets superbowl  rhetoric, love the jets, but as a jet fan you have to know they really are not going to win it this year, still an unproven bunch, yes they made major strides last year and are going in the right direction but SB is a stretch.
