I'm new here

Question

Hi guys! I&#x27;m new here. I&#x27;ve been watching the site for a while now, and I&#x27;m really impressed! You guys are way smarter than I am when it comes to sports! I came into some money and I&#x27;m looking to invest in something more than stocks or real estate if ya know what I&#x27;m saying. I already own 2 businesses but I&#x27;m really not looking to run a 3rd  but if anyone feels they have a play I can make money with I don&#x27;t have any problem sharing! I really hope we can have a successful relationship in some of you picking winners. &#xD;&#xA;Thanks,&#xD;&#xA;Talking Head

My suggestion is to stick with your other successful businesses. It is very hard for a novice to make in this business. With the juice that is taken out it is difficult to make consistent money betting on sports.

Stick with stocks and real estate,

There are alot of good guys on here, about 5 or 6 I follow.  If you are looking to buy picks I would use the same one that i do.  They made me a killing last year in college bowl games and NFL playoffs including a massive amount this year in MLB.  Plus its cheap to buy for a whole year of football for only 300.  www.vegasbreakers.com.

1 more thing, NEVER buy picks. It makes it nearly impossible to make money, after the juice and the cost of the picks.

I am one of the few people who actually do sports betting for a living. It is very tough.

I've seen stats that 98% of the people who try and do this lose money. The key to your success is money management.

Here's my 5 tips for newbies:
1) Bet the same amount on every bet
2) Don't bet on your favorite team.
3)   Say away from road favorites
4)   Don't pay attention to what the "public" is doing.
5)    Look to play on home underdogs, especially on Nationally Televised Weekday games.

I can&#x27;t help myself, I just gotta tell about this. Do you know who Steve Wynn is? He is the Godfather of modern Las Vegas.. he literally rebuilt the Strip and was the creator of all the new mega resorts..... He was recently interview on 60 Minutes and said emphatically that in almost 40 years of casino operation management experience, that he HAD NEVER NOT EVER KNOWN ANYONE TO WIN AT GAMBLING... NOT EVEN ONE SINGLE PERSON ......     You would do better by having Bernie Madoff manage your money than to think that gambling is an investment.... IT IS NOT.... It is entertainment, it is sport.... perhaps, If you learn the handicapping craft, you can win enough sheckels for some walking around money or a little extra income... but do yourself a favor.. think of it as entertainment not investment...

The entertainment is added value, but are you telling me the schmoe who hits Mega-Bucks doesn&#x27;t make money gambling?  That statement is false.  Card-counters in Black Jack make money gambling.  I knew a very good card counter and am getting decent myself.  The trick is to get the odds in your favor.  Then just keep playing.  That&#x27;s all the casino&#x27;s do.  If you have a way to get an edge on the house use it!

However having an edge is no sure win.  There is no such thing as a "sure" thing.  If you have an edge and bet consistant amounts over time you will make money.

Albeit it the % of people beating the books is very low, there are still many many punters(expert sports gamblers) that make a very good living just betting on sports. like i said, the % is super super small but they are out there. They usually bet on the sports that &#x27;vegas&#x27; dont pay a lot of attention to like the NCAA Football Div 2 or other smaller school games....

I am telling you what Steve Wynn said..... just go hang out in a sports book some afternoon... see how "wealthy" and "well dressed" the players are... they are one step away from a cardboard box under an interstate.... most have been divorced 3+ plus times...... find me one cab driver in vegas that did not lose everything he had and is now driving cabs...... professional gamblers can never win at house casino games because of the odds % favoring the house or sports handicapping where the book gets juice.... that margin guarantees that the longer you play, the more likely you are to lose..... name any casino game and I will give you the house advantage in %... we know what the juice is in sports.... that is all you need to know

I libe in Nevada.  I have spent my entire life around the casinos.  The professional bettors do not hang out in the sportsbook.  They place their bet and go home to watch it on their big screen.  Broke gambling addicts hand out in  sportsbooks because they have nowhere to watch the game otherwise.  So in a way i agree with you there.  Not many well dressed people hanging out in the sportsbook.  However, when one learns how to count cards in blackjack, the % does tip in his favor, and over time he will win!!!!!!&#xD;&#xA;Card counting is not a myth, it is a fact, and it&#x27;s not extremly hard to learn either.  I&#x27;ve only been on this forum 2 days and it seems I&#x27;ve spent most of my effort talking gambling theory with people that only gamble at indian casinos.  I was born and raised in Nevada, and i know a considerable amount about gaming!!!  As for Wynn&#x27;s comment, like I said before total BS.  Anyone who hits Mega Bucks has become a very succesful gambler.

Where as in sportsbook?  I know most of the people on here are all offshore, but I dont think that&#x27;s a wise choice if you&#x27;re talking betting REAL money.  I&#x27;d say if your serious.  Look at the schedule, cap games way ahead of time.  Find out what you REALLY like, then pay what $200-300 for a plane ticket and lay down your bet in a real casino.  You know, one of the ones that actually make the lines......

Look man, if you want to pay for plays there are sites for that.  If you want free plays, well you found us.  There are lots of cappers on here who post their record.  If you want to tail, pick one with a good record and cross your fingers. Where&#x27;d that thread about fixing games go....Thats what you should be doing if you want a "sure" thing.
