After doing some research, I found an interesting angle to the NFL
Kickoff Game on Thursday:
 
Since 2004, the NFL implemented a Thursday Night Game in which the Super Bowl Champion from the previous year play the first game at home. The HOME TEAM has not only won but covered in this special edition slugfest, except for year one. I've listed the Super Bowl Champs with the lines and scores for the first game. Currently, the line is 3 1/2, so I will buy it down to three and not get burnt by the hook. Good luck to all and enjoy the game.

Funny how this didn't show up last year.. this is obviously an attempt by Vegas to get people to bet on NY -4 AKA the losing side

The number will stay low because Osi is out, Strahan retired, and Ely is percieved as dumb and lucky.
The Giants will cover at home because the Redskins suck.  Well maybe not suck, but they are running a new offense with a new head coach and an unproven QB.

If you look this trend goes a lot farther. I have been betting the first home game of the superbowl winner for some time now. It was my favorite bet of the year. It has been working for me. If you look it up, I'm pretty sure Tampa covered the first home game as well in 03. I am pretty sure the Patriots won their first home game in 2002 and I believe they covered. I thought this was my secret the money game of the year. I don't know if it will still be profitable, now that it is public, as I'm sure vegas will adjust their lines but I'm still going to take the giants for a little action but not as big as last year with Indy. GL guys

Redskins are abominable.  I don't see how that sorry ass team can score more than 7-10 points.
 
uNDER seems like an easy play, too.
 
Gmen win like 24-10ish.
 
This Washington outfit can't score a TD unless they get a very short field off a TO or return,  there is a broken play, or defensive/special teams TD.  They really are horrific on offense.

Washington will convert maybe, at best, 20% of their 3rd downs.
 
Gmen will convert 40-50% of theirs.
 
Let's face it, Washington hasn't had a good offense since like 1991.

You are correct. Tampa won 17-0 @ Philly as a 3 pt. underdog
and NE won at home as a 2 1/2 pt. dog vs. Pitt, 30-14. I'm sorry
I let the cat out of the bag. Figured we could share a good stat with some of the other players. Sorry that Rookie_Bookie can't

When Jon Jansen is going to be benched in favor of Stephon Heyer, then you got serious problems on the o-line..
 
Heyer was horrible last year in place of Jansen.  Jansen has really fallen off the map.
 
Portis is about 15 lbs too heavy, also.  He can't make any long runs carrying all that bulk.  At Denver, he was like 206 lbs.  Gibbs and that idiotic offense killed Portis.
 
The Washington wideouts are all small.  They have no threats in the redzone outside of Cooley.  The 3 guys they drafted this year to add "size" to the receivers......none of them is fit enough to play.  What a joke!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
Washington's defense tries really hard, and I give them credit for that, but they can't rush the passer unless they blitz at least 2 other rushers in addition to the front 4.
 
And that stupid signing by little danny snyder of old washed up old man Jason Taylor for a zillion dollars and draft picks is turning out to be another Snyder Special.......as in a bomb blowing up in his face.
 
Washington Redskins, for all their hype, do so very little every single season.  The team is a complete joke with Snyder as owner and his stooge puppet Cerrato masquerading as a GM.
 
Give me Gmen -3.5.  The only thing that worries me is that Vegas set such a low line and came off the original 4.  Why?  I have no idea, cause Washington's only hope to get inside the number is a lot of luck, or a fix.

Yeah, NYC, I can see no reason to take Washington +3.5 unless there is a fix.
 
Even if I didn't bet this game, I would cheer for the Gmen over Snyder's team.
 
So easy to cheer against Snyder.

I will be taking the Giants also. To good of a value to pass up. Giants D- Line will smash through the redskins old tired monguls and beat the hell out of Campbell. The redskins are really rusty right now with the new coach and all the arrogance flowing around washington. I mean who the hell drops the #1 rusher in the preseason Mason, and keeps some sorry as punter, just so there piss poor draft picking looks good. The skins are a joke and the Giants are still in high city after last years win. I can go on and on about this game. 3.5 seems to easy is the only thing that scares me. I will be beating the house on the G men though.

Yeah, 3.5 is so low it is scary...like Vegas knows something.
 
The good news, though, at least for now, is that the public is pretty much split 50/50 on this game.
 
If public piles all over Gmen at -3.5, then I will be very worried.

Did I miss something or are the Giants only playing with
9 players on defense?? They way people are talking the
replacements on defense are just that, from the movie "The Replacements"!! Jason Campbell needs to prove to me that he has improved from his QB rating of 77.6.

good job tonight. your insight made this decision a lot easier. I'm not even a Giant fan (Sadly the Dolphins) but anyone who thinks the Redskins were a better team coming into the game was only fooling themselves. Jason Campbell has a long way to go in order to perfect the West Coast dump and run offense. Let's move on to Sunday and make some more money.
