i'll agree with most that this will not be the same team as last year, but I think their offense will be just as dominant, and their Defense is well coached enough and disciplined to keep the lowly Cheifs in check....Plus being the first game of the year, and being at home coming off the biggest dissapointment of a game in Boston history....add in the fact they are playing one of the top 5 projected worst teams in the NFL, I think the worse case of a point spread loss for the Pats in this one is a meaningless backdoor with a minute left...which we have all been through....but I really don't think so in this one, the Pats will be up by at least 14-17 by halftime and will pound them hard from bell to bell in their first game after an 0-4 pre-season. 
 
We all remember the Pats first 8 games last season, they beat the daylights out of everyone, then vegas started adjusting the lines to ridicolous numbers, hense the Pats ended up with a losing ATS mark by seasons end....pound the Pats here IMO they win very comfortably in the window of a 38-13 type of final.

AGREED.  More so cause KC is terrible, than the Pats are that good....KC and Bears are good under bets for season!!

That is correct the pats want be even close to the team they were last year, They are going to struggle this year.....Just look at how during the pre-season one of the starting corners fernando bryant was cut and they now bring in o'neal who was released by the bengals  just 6 days before the start of the season....Not a good sign fellas!!!!!

agreed but I really think the cornerbacks positions are their only glaring possible issue...and they still have hobbs who is good, merriweather who is young but a huge talent, and terrence wheatley who has impressed so far as a rookie....harrison, o'neil, and lynch are old but smart and effective...keep in mind too the Pats brought in Capers as a defensive assistant and Belechick who is a defensive genious can make Sam Houston state competitive no matter who he has to work with....Pats will be 12-4 at worst this year.

The NE game is offline at pinnacle.  I wonder what the line will be if Tom Brady does not start?  I'd sure hate to be holding a bunch of the pats -17 if that happened.

you have been lured in like most outside these parts buying into how Belechick says -0- to the media, the media creates their own theory about Brady, injuries, "the pats aren't that good this year" etc. etc.... and the players are afraid to say anything positive or a peep about injuries.....they do this all the time for years now, its the Pats organiztion from top to bottom's M-O...

Here you are: Tom Brady starts Sunday, Tom Brady throws for 300+ yards to the likes of Moss, Welker, Gaffney, Watson, Murroney, Faulk and co....Murroney, Sammy Morris and Lamont Jordan combine for 125 yards rushing...the Pats play a solid game in all three phases of the game in front of 68,000 maniacs, and KC ends up exactly where they are supposed to be: ON THE LOSING END.

I love this game, could care less about laying 17....NEW ENGLAND WINS BY 24+

THIS WILL BE MY ONLY PLAY SUNDAY AFTERNOON FOR 5 UNITS.

The 1st game of the regular season cannot be a "trap"....a 17 point favorite is not a "trap"....a 17 point favorite 90% of the time is called: "THEY WILL BEAT THIS TEAM, BUT WILL IT BE BY ENOUGH??"

Why on earth would the oddsmakers open a week one line at 17 points??...because they're probably going to win by 30.

right on....and they've also won 18 out of 19 s/u and most, especially at home, by double digits.

ask yourself this....what do you think will be the score at halftime even if brady comes out rusty?? maybe 17-7 or 14-3?? if he's not rusty your most likely looking at a 21-3, 17-0, 21-7 type score??....i'm not big on taking teams i'm quite certain will be down double digits at some point....anything can happen, KC could keep it close, i'm not a rookie....i've been betting for and against the Pats a long time, haven't missed a snap in 15 years....been to foxboro over 40 times....the Pats absolutely smother KC sunday, i'm playing this game and this game only...

good luck with whatever u play, the first few weeks are usually good for the player.

Tom Brady will play but not 100% healthy........I have seen New England cover a lot of game last years.  This year is different.

KC+17 line will be dropping.

if you just bet on what happened in the past you are truly a gambling loser....if you are going off what has happened in the past between THESE TWO TEAMS then you would be capping the game....every game, every matchup, every strategy, every situation is a new adventure....I could care less about that trend...thats like saying I absolutely have to bet on Obama to win the presidency because a republican has been in office 8 years....or why don't I just wait until thanksgiving and bet the Lions because they always cover on turkey day ...NOT...different teams, different fields, different years, different players, different coaches, different space in time...the only thing that will keep me from pulling the trigger on this one is the status of Brady...if he doesn't play, I will not bet the game, but even if cassell or guiterrez starts they'll beat the cheifs....maybe even by only 3 as you predict!!!

i dont particularly agree with the play. 17 is a big line in week 1. im sure the pats will be fine but will they repeat last year? 17 is a hell of a lot right now...id have thought 14.5...but regardless do you

Kansas City Chiefs are definitely 100 percent covering the spread whether its 15-17 the chiefs are only losing this game by about 7 points

this line is actually an absolute joke of a line....theres not a single chance that the patriots cover this thread and unless im wrong on sunday then u can come back and bash me...i will be at foxboro and i sure as HELL will be POUNDING the chiefs....
 
i have been a chief fan for a very long time and im not saying they are a good team...they're not...they are a team in the making...they have a lot of young guys...
 
but to have a line of 17 points with a QB who hasnt played a snap yet is just absurd...the chiefs really dont have that bad of a defense if u look at all the stats last year they are in the top 10 in almost every category...the problem is always there offense...the chiefs wont be scoring too much this year but against an old patriots defense i do see the chiefs puttin up around 14-21 points i think the final of this game will be somewhere around 27 to 21 new england...
 
im hoping for a win outright by the chiefs but that is almost impossible lol

That -17 line is laughable, teams have caught on to the Pats and their not going to dominate teams again like they did last year, Pats will be be good but won't win as convincingly, I see a 24-10 type game here
