Redskins +3.5  for 2 units. 

listen, most of the betting the books take action on is from the public who really doesn't know shit about the sport they are capping.  The Giants just won the biggest football game in the world last year.  This line is what it is so people say, "OMG!!! The Super Bowl Champs are only favored by 3.5!!!! Thats not even a touchdown!  Gimme them for all of my money!"

Unfortunately for the public, the Giants are the worst team in their division this year.  They are going to be to football the opposite of what the Rays were to baseball this year.  I like the Redskins, as they are going to suprise some people this year.  Campbell is in a make or break year and I think he can be a pro-bowl caliber qb.  Skins win the game and will finish on top of NYG in the standings for the season.

In my humble opinion, worst case scenario is the Giants squeak by by a fg.  That half point could be huge in this one.

Ravens/Bengals Under 39


Again, the public persona of the bengals as a fun and gun high scoring offense.  My question is, who is going to do the scoring?  Teams will double team CJ as always, and his mouth will continue to be bigger than his game.  TJ will get a few catches, adn maybe even a TD, but this team is relying on Chris Perry for its run game!!!!  Not to sound like a teenage girl text messaging, but LOL!!!

And then theres the juggernauts that are the Ravens.  Is smith going to be ok?  I actually think they are better suited to put up offense with Flacco as qb, but either way, this offense is so bad that even Cincy's defense can hold them under 17.

Bills +1


Seahawks are awful.  I really like Edwards and think that the Bills will be taking a step foward this year.  Seahawks are garbage now, with few impact players and the players they do have are getting old.  Julius Jones as the featured back


Cowboys -4

Browns won all their games last year vs teams with HORRIBLE winning percentages.  I am a huge eagles fan, so it pains me to bet on the cowboys, but they should win this one rather easily.  Something along the lines of 28-17

49ers +3

Why?  Because they win this game outright.  Because the team morale right now is at an all time high, and these guys think they are going to be a playoff team.  Because Arizona is a bunch of underachievers with no running game, WRs who dont even want to be there, and a capable but past his prime veteran playing QB because their young stud of the future would rather run around Hollywood with Nick Lachey than actually improve his game.  San Fran wins this.  I like the ML, but ill take the points


Colts/Bears Under 44.5

Not really feeling the colts at all this year.  I think they will be 10-6, but nothing like what they are used to doing.  Theyll win this game, but with each year Peyton and Marvin get older, this teams offense gets a bit weaker.  They do have a stud at RB, but the Bears have a very capable D and Will at least keep them at bay.  And the bears offense???  Why even bother playing???  A rookie RB, a QB whos job isnt to make plays, but to "not lose" the game.  And do they even have any WRS???  24-10 Indy


Falcons +3

You know what??? I don't absolutely hate this team this year.  They wont be good, but they wont be 3-12 either.  Matt Ryan makes his NFL debut, so he has to be pretty pumped for this one.  Roddy White, if he can develop some form of chemistry with Ryan, may finally have the QB he needed to become a top tier receiver.  (sucks for Michael Jenkins, he had some tools but never a good qb)

People don't realize how bad basing a franchise around a QB who couldn't play qb harmed this franchise.  Hes gone now.  A real QB is in.  Roddy can play.  Laurent Robinson can play a lil bit.  Michael Turner can play a little bit.  All this excitement, along with home field, should help these guys beat a VERY bad team.

GIANTS STILL HAVE THERE BACK 7 IN TACT AND KIWANUCKA WILL DO A GOOD JOB AT END. I DONT SEE SKINS STOPPING THE GIANTS AT ALL IN THIS GAME. GIANTS WILL FINISH IN 2ND OR CLOSE TO 1ST NOT FOURTH AND WIN A WILD CARD. MANNING IS READY FOR THE NEXT STEP HE HAS A THREE HEADED MONSTER AT RB IN JACOBS BRADSHAW AND WARD SOLID WRS IN BURRESS TOOMER SMITH HIXON BOSS AND A GREAT O LINE.PS ALSO TEAMS DONT LOSE THERE 1ST GAME AT HOME AFTER SB. 2.  dont say i "will" lose my money, say "in your opinion, the giants will cover"  you don't know anything that nobody else knows, so your opinion is just that, an opinion.  and you are every bit entitled to that opinion, just don't state it as a fact
3.  its hard to take advice from someone praising every aspect of the giants team when their username is nygiants  i think you may be a bit biased
 
 
That being said, you are right, there is definately a chance that the giants will win and I lose the bet.  If that is the case, then congrats on taking the giants and being on the right side.  I just really like the Skins.  While we disagree on that game, good luck with the rest of your picks

and you also bring up a great point, the trend is that home teams always cover after they win the super bowl.  i am aware of that trend, and think it comes to an end this year.  however, it is definately something to note when capping that game

I like some of your picks here. Be careful on the Buffalo play though. Seattle is something to look out for. They have a bad record on the road in the east, but they have one of the most solid defenses in the NFL. Buffalo looks good, but not as good as the Seattle defense. I personally wouldn't bet this game.

I really don't like the giants at all this season.  I think Eli is a mediocre qb, toomer is getting old.  the other wrs other than burress are all mediocre, brandon jacobs would make a better change of pace back than featured back, bradshaw and ware were flukes last season, no shockey, no osi...these guys will be lucky to be 9-7

Eli isnt a mediocre QB and he will show that this year. He has made the playoffs every year he has been a starting QB and led his team to two td's in the 4th Q of a superbowl. Go check how many other people have done that ever trust me it is a short list.

Toomer is old but he is reliable and Steve Smith had a great playoffs in his rookie year.

Bradshaw isnt a fluke any more then you could say ryan grant is. Giants traded ryan grant because of Bradshaw. And Osi is great but Tuck and Kiwi will be just fine. Dont let your hate for the Giants make you lose this bet. I wouldnt expect you to know this but I live in NY and this team isnt much different from last years. Kevin Boss will have a better year then Shockey who hasnt even played in pre season for the Saints

pretty weird to call Eli 'mediocre, don't you think...

with Manning as a starter, they went 11-5 and won the division in 05', they went 8-8 when half the team went down in 06' with injuries and still made the playoffs, and they went 10-6 and won the Super Bowl last year.. that's not really mediocre... if you put a real 'mediocre' qb behind center of that team, I'm sure you would not have had those results...

it's funny how Manning has never produced a losing season as a starter and alot of people keep predicting he's going to have one every year (not saying you are)... I figure they do it so that they can look like geniuses if and when it happens... but odds are, it won't this year...


people think without Osi and Strahan they are done.. that's what they thought with Tiki and Luke Petitgout gone last year...

the fact remains that the giants have depth that is very capable of stepping up...

off the bench, Justin Tuck had more sacks than Strahan and was one short of Osi last year... he was also considered for Super Bowl MVP and for the Pro Bowl... that doesn't sound like someone incapable of taking over this defense... I'll take him over most starters that are on other teams right now... and Kiwi led the team in tackles during the span he played before getting hurt... now he's heading back to DE (his original position where he was drafted out of college with the idea of replacing Strahan one day).. now he can..

and as for not being able to do things without Shockey, that's when the team got hot last season and Manning performed his best stats of the year.. when Shockey was out... I'm not saying Boss is better than Shockey, I'm saying Manning was playing better without him... probably more because he didn't have Shockey crying for the ball all the time and giving pressure to force throws to him... either way, the fact remains he did produce better without him...

as for the backs, it doesn't matter who's back there...  Jacobs, Ward, Bradshaw, hell, bring tiki back if you want.. the thing is, the O-line has been solid at run blocking and creating holes and those guys have been together as a unit for the last 3 years.. no reason why that changes...

I like the thinking here, but I think it's tough to say the public is gonna load up on the Giants this far out from the game. Most people still bet on game day. And right now only 64% of the bets have been on NY according to sportsinsights. A solid majority yes, but the line hasn't moved and the injury to Osi is sure to bring Skins money. Not saying you don't have the right side. I just think it's too early to get a good read on the market. I'd lean slightly to the Skins now, but need more info.

Now here's a play that the early public is in love with. A whopping 89% (at SI) of the bets so far have been on Dallas. And the line has moved here too. The Books will need Cleveland badly here, so it'll be the Browns or nothing here for me.

I'm going to say you are a person with wisdom beyond your years...you my friend have the lines right...but also keep in mind that it's the smart guys who lay the money early and the public who sways it later in the week and then the smart guys come back in...keep your eye on that spread up until an hour before game time...you will see what I mean...that line will be hovering around 7 and then nail it for the Browns...IMHO

I more or less agree with every pick on your plate except the Skins.
 
I truly think the Giants are going to tear this team apart and it is all gonna stem from the pass rush(with or without Osi).  Just my quick 2 cents.

you couldn't be more right.  both of these teams have made pretty big changes since we last have seen them play.  the redskins, i truly believe have made the correct changes, and the giants the exact opposite. however, it may take a while for this new system of jim zorn to get up and running this year. the giants on the other hand, are coming off of an impropable victory in the super bowl.  they MAYYY be on a hangover. they have lost some pretty valuable peices this offseason and i don't know that they will even be a shell of themselves. between shockey on offense, and osi umenyiora, micheal strahan, kawika mitchell, and MOST importantly gibril wilson,  they will have one of the worst passing defenses this season.  especially in a division that has now 3 versions of the spread offense to face a combined 6 times a year.  and plenty of weapons to worry about.  if you remeber that defense of the giants the first 5-7 weeks of the season before they got their pass rush going,  they were absolutely putrid.  i remember fading them early(and only early fortunately).  i believe this team takes a HUGE step down, and the skins tage a good enough step up that they should at least be able to cover this spread.  i agree take the skins here, the super bowl champion is being overvalued here obviously.  very good points YoungOne.
