#3 Posted: 3/28/2010 3:37:35 PM Are they copying...or are they just picking the same picks?
For example, with NCAAB today there are only 2 games so I'm sure out of the couple thousand playing there will be a few peeps picking the same picks.
Just looked at the top 15 and no one picked the same across the board.
I picked Phoenix last night when the picks for today came availalbe, did you pick them today after looking at my picks? lol

#4 Posted: 3/28/2010 5:06:50 PM How exactly is copying picks an advantage?
It's like in high school... what if you cheat off a moron? Anyone can have a bad day. If anyone copied my Friday selections, they got a mouthful of O-FER, despite my being in the top 10 at the time.

#5 Posted: 3/30/2010 5:15:24 AM Copying picks can be a good thing... it depends on when and where. I have had to do it a few times near the end of two contests I was in. Being up by a game or two, and the person/persons just behind me made their picks... I could shut them out by picking the same game. It worked as my avatar shows. Do it everyday with all your picks for the whole contest... no. But at times, it's what you NEED to do. |

Well, obviously... but I think what this jain75 is saying is that takes away form the integrity of the game. |

#7 Posted: 3/30/2010 2:13:20 PM Or you could just pick your games a few minutes before game time? I think it's a strategic tool as someone mentioned earlier in this post.

No kidding? I think the post said... "Hide picks". The contest is what it is... and I doubt very much that anyone is going to copy anyones pick's... pick for pick. If you read all of my post, it clearly said... "do it with all your picks for the whole contest, no". So the is for what?
<<<<< by the way...these are CONTESTS... not... as you said "games".
Bottom line... seeing others picks is a HUGE part of all contests and is just another part of being able to overcome what ever rules are in the contest... and come out on top! |

#13 Posted: 4/2/2010 10:41:53 AM You do realize that if someone is in a lower place and they copy your picks every day they have no chance of beating you?

#15 Posted: 4/6/2010 6:55:45 PM Lets put it this way. I thought if I followed the leader of Ultimate Race and used just 1 pick aday for Streak Survivor that I could get at least 7 in arow.....that's why I'm at 1 in arow now. LOL Copying doesn't work! |

#17 Posted: 4/12/2010 7:46:00 PM Showing the picks when a player makes them adds to the integrity of the contest. Otherwise, for the two posters who are up in arms in this thread there would be hundreds who cry conspiracy and cheating and whatever else.
The winner of the Ultimate Race will not be copying picks period

#18 Posted: 4/12/2010 8:12:53 PM I think picks should be locked right up until the game start, just like survivor pools.
That way, weasels don't play like complete pu**ies and copy people's picks.

If you read above, it says EXACTLY that a past winner copied picks to protect his lead.
Amazing that someone would be that much of a total wuss to do that, but whatever. Picks should remain covered until the game is no longer available.

Whether or not someone is copying...which by the way I dont agree with but its part of it......the best will still win in the long run. As far as a former winner copying to protect his lead....well how is that any different than a team running out the clock when they are up ? If he was smart enough to protect his/her lead by doing that...more power to them ..I think it was smart. If you dont want someone to copy your plays...play at the last minute like the wiseguys do. I mean bottom line...it doesnt matter how you get the info, just as long as its right. I mean how many of you winners would win if you didnt get info from somewhere..be it espn.com, cobers or whatever. The only thing anyone should worry about is someones picks changing after the game starts!! anything else...get over it...its all fair game!! |

#24 Posted: 7/26/2010 1:27:09 PM I don't understand the concern about hiding picks, etc. Maybe I don't know about betting protocol, what's right, wrong, and/or don't make any difference. If it ain't against the rules - what's the big deal??? Frankly, I can use all the help I can get and if a pick looks good to me and someone already has it- so be it! If the Survivor people don't see anything wrong-who should care?? They are the ones who does the paying. Quicher bitching and GOI.

#25 Posted: 8/29/2010 12:09:54 PM There is no reason to hide picks. If you make the same picks as some so be it, you won't ever be better than them so you cant even win, there is no advantage. Who gives a garbage, these are free picks and nothing is hurting, this site is here to help make people better handicappers. We are all on the same team against the bookies. |
