sammy, i agree a lot of contracts r absurd these days (especially ryan howard's)...disagree about hamels...hamels has been the phils best pitcher this season and its really not that close...he has been an awesome postseason pitcher as well, leading the team to a world series win 4 years ago...this guy is a no doubt about it #1 starter on 95% of the teams in baseball...just doesnt receive the publicity as doc or lee

yes I agree Howard contract is even more ridiculous. You gave some decent analysis. Its $130 MM with Hamels, Lee, Halladay, Howard, Papelbon, Utley, and Rollins. So they still have some room but they need to make some smart moves. Moreover, they could deal Howard and Utley in off season
