Whats the purpose of presenting it since already religious people like myself believe in it.
Many people believe in democracy but they still teach that don't they?
?? WTF does that even mean???
Do you have a short term memory problem?
We are NOT talking about teaching democracy!!! Stop getting off track by attempting to create moronic analogies....
Anyone in this thread want to take over for me, I'm done with bowl-dumbass...
I'll leave you with this holding of the federal court's ruling for like the 4th time....
Teaching intelligent design in public school biology classes violates
the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment to the Constitution of
the United States (and Article I, Section 3 of the Pennsylvania State
Constitution) because intelligent design is not science and "cannot
uncouple itself from its creationist, and thus religious, antecedents."

IE Islamic Beliefs and customs, or the customs of Aztecs, or any Humanities class. We would not be able to teach about Ancient Egypt or Roman antiquity. It is asinine.
It would be a really easy fix, since it is a sensitive subject to add a few caveats into the curriculum. Such as a section on creationism that discusses the different creation myths of native Americans, Romans, Aztecs, and Christians. Then a section on different theories IE seeding theory etc.
It is really too easy.
Everyone could stop bitching and crying.
But, somehow I don't see that happening.

You want your children to learn about creationism....
Feel free to enroll them in a Christian school. No one is stopping you.
But it is against the 1st Amendment of the Bill of Rights to do so in a public establishment..
No one is bitching and crying.... the federal courts have spoken...
So actually you and bowl-idiot are ultimately the only ones whining.. You see?
End of story.

Lol, I don't care. I will tell my child about everything under the sun. I hope my daughter will have background knowledge in every subject.
We will visit other countries and observe other cultures, and I will teach her about the culture of Native Americans. It doesn't mean we are going to do peyote and open a casino.
The point is that if teaching creationism bothers people so much, whatever, you are right. I'll throw my hands up and just say F-it. They will get it on Sunday right?
The point is that it would be nice if we embraced multicultural explorations of all angles. We would create much more well rounded people.
It is just funny that people would fight so hard to suppress ideas.

My point is this, as a practicing Catholic for as long as I've been alive.... (Maybe I've moved farther from the Church but, I will always believe in Christ and God's guiding work in the theory of evolution.)
But I would not want a public school teacher whose background I do not know of and for all I know could be an athiest, a J ew, a Muslim, a Buddhist, an agnostic, maybe even a 7th day Adventist attempting to explain to my children aspects of theology and creationism.
You think a teacher taking two minutes at the end of their hour long lecture on the theory of evolution to say "Oh yeah and by the way you all should look up what creationism is too and how God created the world in 6 days...."
Catholics dont have as big of a problem with the theory of evolution as evangelical protestants and fundamentalists do.... Believe me I get into some heated theological discussions with protestants about the sacraments, specifically the Eucharist and the act of reconciliation and finding salvation.
Also atheists are some of the most frustrating people to talk to because more often than not they view people who find comfort in believing in God as wackos, which I find extremely discomforting and disrespectful of others beliefs.
But dissecting an argument thrown around by christian fundamentalists in a biology classroom doesn't fit well with me..

Here's some support for your ID argument. Actually an interesting documentary. I saw the entire thing but I still don't really buy into it.. I encourage you to watch it..
Dembski is not a dumb guy but he's very unpopular in the scientific community.

stlin,
I think it is completely unfair that you are playing the "American Card" on him...
When you play the "American Card", you start talking about Real "American laws" and Real "American Rights", and the "American Way"...
They appear foreign concepts to him so he continue the childish games....
It really is unfair to try to debate with him on subjects that he is not able to grasp... no matter how times you post about the establishment clause of the constitution he wont get it... If he did he would drop the antics...

Creationism really isn't scientific and should be taught in church instead of school because it is part of religion. But this is no big deal because schools give low priority to teaching the origin of life and universe. More class time is usually spend on evolution.
I agree... the thought that it should be given equal time and importance is just silly...
I actually think that creationism and other creation mythology from ancient cultures should be taught separate from science class... I remember in middle school doing a class project looking at ancient mythology and common themes or occurrence such as floods...

It's about time science, if I wanna believe snow is just Jesus shaking his pillow that's my democratic right.
You shouldn't have children or have influence in the education of children if that is the case.
Imagine a world in which we would live if science had followed your train of thought. I'm guessing it would resemble 12th century Europe and they would still be drilling people's heads open when they have headaches.

Well then we wouldn't have this problem would we ?

...Yet scientists have found evidence that the sea rocket is able to do something that no other plant has ever been shown to do.
The
sea rocket, researchers report, can distinguish between plants that are
related to it and those that are not. And not only does this plant
recognize its kin, but it also gives them preferential treatment.
If
the sea rocket detects unrelated plants growing in the ground with it,
the plant aggressively sprouts nutrient-grabbing roots. But if it
detects family, it politely restrains itself.
The finding is a
surprise, even a bit of a shock, in part because most animals have not
even been shown to have the ability to recognize relatives, despite the
huge advantages in doing so.
If an individual can identify kin, it
can help them, an evolutionarily sensible act because relatives share
some genes. The same discriminating organism could likewise ramp up
nasty behavior against unrelated individuals with which it is most
sensible to be in claws- or perhaps thorns-bared competition.
“I’m
just amazed at what we’ve found,” said Susan A. Dudley, an evolutionary
plant ecologist at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, who
carried out the study with a graduate student, Amanda L. File....

Darryl. I find it quite amazing that your incredible hot rock smashing could produce characteristics in a plant such as this.

Are you mad that you couldn't effectively close this thread you little piss ant control freak?
Really because the last time I checked you and rick were proved wrong. But the difference between rick and you is that rick knows when to stop and move on you on the other hand continue to spew absolute bs that has nothing to do with the thread topic...
Also dl was the one who bumped this thread first and he was pointing out how deranged of an individual "this person" is (cough cough bowlf uck, or canov, or balph, or woopdurrits, or 14, or danrules or whoever is repeatedly refreshing my threads obsessively because they are low life losers with anti-social personalities)
How deranged are you bowlsit? I'm serious do you stop and think about how you conduct yourself on this forum??

First off. I'm not the guy that thinks just because I don't agree with someone then that makes them stupid.
Second. You seem to be oblivious to the games DL plays for some ODD reason.
Third. DL doesn't ever win any arguments or own anybody because he rarely expresses his beliefs one way or the other.
Fourth. You seemed to forget that just because it may technically be unconstitutional to teach ID in school has nothing to do with what someones opinion on the matter is. Just because you chose to hide behind that doesn't mean I have to share your opinion. As much as your control freak little a s s may think.
Fifth. What is the odd reason that you fail to to see the games that DL plays on a very frequent basis? Did you notice that the little kid rarely makes a post without childish emoticons?
Sixth. I think I have a good idea why you and DL get along so well but I can't say what it is without being boxed.
Seventh. Big bang theory is a contradicting theory to ID which makes it relavent to talk about. Did you even notice that DL asked me specific questions about ID in this thread? Are you stupid?
