looks like a "lowball" to me. I was expecting at LEAST a +400 or higher considering other down two games teams these playoffs going back to home ice like the Hosersharks
and Jab38, how 'bout a nice big cup of STFU? (or a trip to the PB?). trying to start a "board fight" may be OK in the NBA forum but NOT here
Completely different situations rink. The Hawks are -200 in their home games with 2 of the next 3 at home. A 3 game parlay of -200, -200, and -140 (both home games and game 6) comes out to right around 3-1. The Sharks example is different because they aren't nearly the dog that the Wings are in their upcoming games.
When a team is one game away from elimination, it's an easy process to calculate the series line.

sorry, Jab. that should have been directed @ CJJ307. every playoffs there has to be some "sh!t disturber" trying to start "board fights" and the Mods usually DON'T stand for it
Sorry dad it wont happen again i promise

true statement BUT think it's much more easy to come back to tie a series down 0-2 early than down 1-3 where the next loss is a "heraus" therefore I would think higher series odds

Very true rink but these series odds cant be opinion based on differerent situations. All comes down to math and projected lines, otherwise the books leave themselves open to price manipulation.

I think the game 5 line @ United Center is kinda goofy, rangerz2478. Red Wings +180 Balckhawks -200. you would think it was the Bhawks up 3-1 with those numbers

I DEFINITELY agree with you there. I know the Hawks were -200 in games 1 and 2 but with how the series has played out, I was expecting a -175ish number, not -200.

Also all the haters talking garbage about my Hawks can get fuckked. Where were you guys all season? lol
garbage^ Hook, this happens all the time at this time of the year. It's nothing new at all. Look at all the new Pissburgh and Boston fans that have suddenly emerged from the woodwork. Heck half the Pens and Bruin so-called posters here are being seen for the very first time. If either team was trailing in their respective series, these people wouldn't be seen nor heard from at all. Bol!

but the hawks look rattled. that 3rd period last night was brutal. last 4 minutes they had a pp and then 1 player advantage with the goalie pulled and couldnt generate anything. cant say the wings want it more because thats not true...looks like frustration on the hawks part.
good thing is you know who has to be better. the players. Q won't outcoach babcock. goaltending is a wash. wings o is finding ways to score while the hawks are not.
i cant imagine the things being said about crosby if he was acting/playing the same way as toews.

"The game plan was take control of the ice that the Hawks don't, i.e.
both slots and the dots, essentially the middle of the rink. Rough them
up, clutch grab and if it's called tight so what? Hawks PP is garbage
and Wings control the dot. Ice the puck when you need to, you own the
dots."
"With the personnel the Hawks have it would have been prudent to
develop a killer PP. Want to rough us up? We score on PP, play our river
hockey style-we are just better.
The PK has been outstanding, goaltending good enough but that's not enough."
The Hawks lost a lot of the similar type of players. We all criticized the Hawks of it when the moves happened and while you can get away with it in the regular season, the playoffs is different. Buff, Ladd, Brouwer. I watched Game 3, Toews had 7 shots but every time I saw him he was fighting in front of the net, trying to set screens and ultimately lying on the ice when the whistle was blown. That is not his role.
If the Leafs can come back to force a 7th game against Boston, why can't the Wings?
Leddy 8 minutes, Roszival 20 minutes...can't defend that
Most fans blame this on Quennville.

Hook I know one thing that's wrong with Chicago and that is Zetterberg has gotten the better of Toews thus far. He's been all over him, harassing him at every opportunity and quite frankly I've never seen Toews as rattled as he's been in this series. The guy's has been undisciplined as evidenced by his three straight minor penalties in game four.

I don't post much but life long Hawks fan here (and absolutely hate the Red Wings). Chicago hasn't looked good since round 1. Detroit's moving on... Go Kings (I guess).
Recommendation: don't chase bets (i.e., quadruple or more a wager to make up for a loss).

When have the books ever changed their lines drastically in a playoff series? Very rarely have I seen it happen in all my years of betting hockey, these lines are calculated to the nth degree, short term results are not going to be anything worth more than a minor adjustment.
-200 is an implied probability of 67% rounding up, which is not that high when you look at chicagos record, dominance over the RWs on paper, and the amount of money public has insanely bet on the hawks in the first 4 games of this series.

Yes rare but you have one in the Rangers/Bruins series. Bruins -120 range in games 1 and 2 at home, -150 in game 5. Doesn't happen often, but it happens.
With how close the Wings/Hawks series has been, I'm surprised it didn't happen there, at least in a minor way. It's not like the Hawks are DOMINATING these games with the Wings getting lucky. Very very even games.
