iphone 3 wont volume up

Question

My volume automatically goes back down to zero with the volume icon always on all of my screens. I can raise it, but as soon as i take off my finger, it returns to no volume. It will not power down either.  It wont give audio for headphones either. It will only give sound when connected to my JLB speaker mount.On vacation and far from my home pc/itunes software. Far from a mac store as well. Any sugestions?

get a new phone...hell u can get a free 3gs if you can upgrade...the difference in speed is def noticeable!
