#6 Posted: 8/24/2011 6:51:07 PM I watched it recently.
It got sequel written all over it.
Kinda boring at the beginning, but picked up in the 2nd half of the movie.

movie of the year?? great ending??
So after destroying the city of San Francisco, the apes quietly go back to the forest to live happily ever after?
And no one supposed to give a garbage?? The whole country would be in a mad panic of loose, crazy, scientific altered gorillas!!
The new movie was cheesy, watch the original.

#9 Posted: 9/6/2011 3:04:44 PM All the remades, sequels and series lack the fresh story of the original movie which is why it is so great. First movie had the biggest impact on viewers. |

someone left after the first credits rolled, you missed some crucial last scenes.
and while the original was iconic, this approached the genre at an entirely different level like the new batman or superman flicks, even if u hated it, cheesy is the wrong word to use |

#11 Posted: 9/8/2011 4:21:39 PM There are a lot of dumbasses in this thread it's not really that funny. Depersio you are one stupid darn, Rockdog you also aren't too bright either.
This movie The rise of the planet apes with james franco is a PREQUEL you morons. This is how the disease spread across the the world wiping out the greater human population. In the SEQUELS that will be released soon I hope, they will be about the apes ruling the world.
Do you remember when the fat dude ape scientist died because of the drug and then the father dying and finally the airplane pilot who was sneezing blood and was already contiminated, well that guy is the one who spreads this disease and kills off almost the entire human race.
Get it>?

If you thought this movie was any better than average, you need to watch a lot more movies. Acting and story were mediocre, re-use of classic lines were cheesy, CGI was only thing worth watching.
The original was a thinking man's movie, while this vacuous one was targeted to pimply faced teens with short attention spans.

#13 Posted: 9/16/2011 4:48:32 AM It was pretty good it was kinda sappy with the ape love and the James Franco scientist guy. The monkey rampage was top notch well worth the price.

#17 Posted: 9/21/2011 11:29:09 AM Actually loved it. Amazing the things they can do these days with special effects. And it's only going to get more impressive.
And how hot Freida Pinto? Stunning! |

#22 Posted: 12/21/2011 5:36:54 PM I am huge fan of the original so I was really looking forward to seeing this movie. At first I was shaking my head and then I was laughing the rest of the way at how incredibly stupid this movie was. The original posed some important questions about existence, government, discrimination, authority, power, religion, narrow and presumptuous thinking, etc... while this one was about as deep as a mud puddle.
The special effects were a 10 and made the movie worth looking at, but overall this movie was a disappointing slap to the face of the "Planet of the Apes" catalog. Somewhere Zera and Cornelius are shaking their heads. 2/10.
