#7 Posted: 5/2/2012 4:15:24 PM This is the basic case of a team getting over confident and giving up on a game log before it was over. It is probably one of the best things that could have happened to Memphis early on. They were destroying the Clippers who had no answer for them. Over confidence is a #itch. Their coach will have them ready to play tonight. I would have loved to be in the Memphis locker room yesterday. |

#8 Posted: 5/2/2012 5:28:02 PM It has nothing to do with the ability of the team or players, it has everything to do with bank rolls in Vegas and off shore books. When you bet on Memphis -5 for the game and Memphis is leading by 19, and the second half line ..Memphis +19(-2,500). Well.....you think hey this is a better bet than the game bet (-5) 'cause Memphis does not have to cover the 5 pts spread like the game bet...easy money, Memphis couldn't possibly lose the game as it was about to beat the Clippers to pulp....I can double my money so easy.
Well....enough people did that and whammo, it's big pay day for the house.
I almost felt for the trap as I bet $400 for the game for Memphis, but thought if the Clippers came back and win...I would be $ 10,400+ in the hole! |

#11 Posted: 5/2/2012 7:04:04 PM LAC @ MEM -6.5 (started at -5) O/U 184.5
This is an Interesting gm because of the miraculous comeback and win by Clippers in gm 1.
1st gm was unusual for Memphis in that they made so many 3pt shots (11-16) but none in 4Q and Clippers made most of theirs (only 6-18 in the gm) in 4Q (5-6) thus setting up the comeback. Points don't remember when then are scored, they all add up the same at the end.
M Conley went 5-5 (4-4 in 3Q) from beyond the arc and if you take his 3's away then Memphis would have been closer to their league 4th from the bottom avg of 4.2 made out of 12.9 attempts.
I expect this to be more Z Randolf and less M Conley and OJ Mayo tonight.
Taking Memphis -6.5
(But absolutely don't listen to me, so far 2-5 in the playoffs)
PS Did you know that Ken Mauer is a felon and went to jail? Fly the friendly skies of federal prison. If ever there was a ref who you might want to approach about a fix, maybe you would pick the one who was already convicted of tax evasion. Too bad it's not Denver playing tonight or I would know who to bet against...right Ron?
