#7 Posted: 12/25/2012 10:01:33 PM This game features two of the biggest choke QB's in FBS this season. Nova cannot be depended on to make clutch passes and Logan Thomas is nothing but a big pile of crap but looked much better late in the year. Game looks like a toss up at first glance but a closer look shows VT really being able to harass the QB while Rutgers is nowhere near as good as VT in this area. VT has been a hard luck team this year and breaks have a way of " evening out " in bowl games. My numbers make VT a slight FAV but the consensus favors Rutgers ( which means VT is the side ). I do not love this pic but I am going to play VT for a small 1 unit play based on the sack %, projected score and current consensus.

#8 Posted: 12/26/2012 11:18:51 PM It is pretty much a given at this point that after this game, Beamer is going to make some long needed changes on the offensive coaching staff. OL Coach Newsome is sure to be gone, and OC Stinespring will either be gone [FINALLY] or pushed into some sort of position like a non-coaching recruiting coordinator. O'Cain is on the way out too.
These coaches have probably spent more of their time polishing their resumes than preparing for this bowl game. Hokies won two straight at the end of the year after a horribly disappointing season to finish .500 and preserve the bowl streak, but that is a hollow victory. I think more concern is being given to the changes in the coaching staff than winning this game.
Tech OL and running game are nonexistent, and Rutgers has an excellent defense. Rutgers doesn't score much either, and Bud Foster's defense, while not at its usual level, improved as the season went on.
The play is under in this one.

a lot of games don't offer line value so that makes them a flip for me. if you think you can find value in every game then bet them and let me know how much u lose by the end of the season. |

i actually agree with you on this one. statistically i have rutgers as a 1.5 pt dog. However, if i had to bet i'd take rutgers because ,against popular belief, i think the big east is stronger than the acc. |

#15 Posted: 12/28/2012 10:55:16 AM Since 1990 1st year head coaches are 39-67 in Bowl Games. So far this year they're 0-4. I'll take VT -2.5 |

#16 Posted: 12/28/2012 12:13:13 PM I like Va Tech -1 even though they have had a rough year...just seems like after time off and focus on this game they should come through because they do have better players |

#17 Posted: 12/28/2012 12:29:17 PM Two underachieving teams but Va Tech has been the bigger loser since much more was expected of them at the beginning of the season. VT struggled in the games they won, and looked awful in the games they lost. I am sure Hokie fans will be glad to see Logan Thomas move on. Small play on Rutgers for me, something is wrong in Blacksburg.
Rutgers +2 Small play for me |

Hey buddy. I'm on the opposite side again today. I've turned things around since starting 2-5 this Bowl season, winning 4 in a row. I'm giving VT +1 out as a free pick today on my site.
VT +1

Late money is steaming in big time on Rutgers as game has moved from VT -2 to +1. No public side on either side ( 55% Rut to 45% VT ) which makes this move appear to be a strong smart money play on Rutgers. I am switching my play from VT to Rutgers based on this move and increasing my bet to a 3 unit play on Rutgers at -1. This approximately 3 hours before kickoff.

#23 Posted: 12/28/2012 4:55:51 PM Everyone is talking about the late money coming in on Rutgers but what about the early money on Va Tech...???
If there's "smart money" being bet on a team during bowl season I'd imagine that it would come when the lines open the first week of December. I doubt it would be coming in 3 days after Christmas during a very popular vacation week... If the sharps were so smart they would have gotten Rutgers +2.5 3 weeks ago, not now at +1.
This is public money coming in on Rutgers late... Va Tech has played a much tougher schedule than Rutgers. I'll take the experienced coach vs the first year guy. The Senior QB over the Sophmore. AND the more talented team.
VA TECH +1 As we saw last night, the Big East is not that good! |
