#5 Posted: 1/29/2012 12:19:18 AM good idea, too bad it will never work, both fighters are to blame, as if the fight really could not have been made years ago, they have both fought guys that are not in their league. This garbage kills the sport, because boxing will never attract any new fans as long as fighters dodge each other in order to make more paydays that don't even matter because they end up broke anyways. When I started watching boxing, I always liked the fighters who were willing to risk everything for their chance at greatness (Ali, Marciano, Robinson, Dempsey, Louis, Leonard etc.) Today fighters are more worried about making money, they only fight about 3 times a year, in the good old days of fighting they fought all the time and everyone fought almost everyone, today the promoters ruin the sport by only fighting safe, low risk, mismatches nobody wants to watch. Ex. Chavez vs Rubio, instead of Chavez vs Martinez. Maybe after Bob Arum and Don King die, Oscar can take over the game and restore boxing back to its former glory, one can only dream.
