for rock, Janis Joplin was pretty good i suppose.

Janis Joplin is still the queen of women rockers and always will be.  Benetar was awesome.  Stefani is the shiznit.  Lita Ford was great.  Heart was cool.  Joan Jett... How about Vixen?  Ha!  Short career and not deserving of this group but I still loved them.

 Pink is very talented, but not enough rock and roll in her music to get me excited.  And the Cranberries singer is also very good, but unfortunately the band did not put out enough hits to showcase her beautiful voice.  

As far as female pioneers go, I give Janis Joplin and Grace Slick credit.  But for some reason, I cannot get too excited about their music.

And honorable mention is in order for Deborah Harry of Blondie. However, maybe the fact that she was assisted by some good rock n roll cords is skewing my thought process.

Grace was the female Robert Plant of acid rock, no doubt. Love her stuff. Met her once.

I'm really digging Susan Tedschi these days. She can get rough and bluesy like Joplin but as smooth and soaring like Ann Wilson. She plays a mean guitar, too.
