i don't like computerized pace figs and i don't like trying to combine a million different types of data or statistics from different sources. for pace i am asking "can this horse win and how can it win?" does the horse come from the clouds and need a meltdown up front? can the horse sit in a stalk and pounce? can it wire them? of course, ALL of this is relative to today's race under today's conditions against today's competition. i just use the PPs in DRF. looking at the splits and speed fig assigned for the race gives me a sense of pace.
Cool brother, I notice that you make a lot of value selections. You've had some big days. It seems to work well for you. How much value do you place on jockey/trainer combos?

deadfish - out of curiosity, what is your angle here? people here know i am not
tommy tough nuts behind a keyboard looking to start crap. so I am just
asking since you are new.
Well brother, I just found this place by chance. I have been playing horses since 1993 or so. Really interesting game, I'm always looking to learn. I started tailing some people on paper and found out that their ROI was negative, sometimes way negative. So I got curious, you know, what motivates people to continue to post bad pick after bad pick? Do they put their own skin in the game or are they just jackwagons that are posting the equivalent of lotto numbers? Is anyone making any money here? Those sorts of questions. I'm always looking to learn. Do you read a lot of Rand, brother? What are your favorite works by her?

I can't speak for other posters. i don't get involved. by now I know who to communicate with.
J/T combo is important in as much as whether they are competent to get the job done. the tote board will point out Baffert/Bejarano and Brown/Castellano. the key is getting at least some value.
read the book once. the name came from a yet to be released track by G'n'R.
Recency Late Speed Pattern Speed/Pace/Stamina/Class/Distance/Surface J/T Combo Breeding (if applicable)
they all play a role and can be ranked differently in different situations. i try to use these and find the most value that the race offers. pass on races that generally have more variance. money management.
