I agree, we don't know, as of now, that any racial component existed to his threats. The officer in question is reported as being Christopher Picciano in the D.C. tv and papers. We will all find out more details soon enough.
My main point is the officer has a duty to protect, and the First Lady has a right to full, unmitigated security, regardless of either of their races.
It would still be news in some form(maybe not this particular thread) if it was Laura Bush or Hillary Clinton instead.
Any threat to the President and his family will always garner media attention. Picciano should not have joked in such a careless manner, irrespective of his true intent. The Office of the President deserves full reverence and respect.
