I think you can make an argument for Pittsburgh being the BEST fans in Football and Hockey. the whole town is NUTS for BOTH the Steelers and Penguins. can't get a ticket for a Penguins game @ CEC  

the Bucko's, not so much. although they ARE doing a lot better than people expected this season considering they are a low payroll "bottom feeder" team

its just amazing to me that the Patriots now have the longest championship drought at 6 years.  I waited my first 20 something years for any championship with the exception of a few Celts ones when I was young and now we've won 7 in 9ish years but you know what it never gets old

yeah it was and when they showed Ortiz with the cup in the clubhouse.  Its cool how all the players and managers are supportive of each other from sport to sport.

ya they were saying how ortiz stays in boston all winter and is close with a few bruins players and youk also.

Bmac.. I know you are a sox fan, but if the Red Sox don't win, I always push for the Cubs to get over their drought !! And how can you not be a Jordan Fan, when the Celtics never even made the playoffs back then I watched every Bulls game in awe ! He was the man!

1. Red sox didnt win a championship in almost 90 yrs prior to 03

2. Bruins had a 40 yr lapse befor winning in 2011

3. Celtics have 1 title the last 25 yrs

4. The only thing thing you can say is about the patriots and theyre technically dont play in boston , and they are the ny giants bitc hes

lmao no one really cares in boston. i live in backbay and no one cares...city is filled with students/employees from outside of massachusetts

only people that care about sports are the townies...from worcester, quincy, salem....lmaooooo and they aint even from boston. all about an hour away.

I know this thread is years old, but it's completely pointless unless you define what "best sports city" means.  The posts make it sound like "best sports city" means the city with the most successful teams.  To me it should be the city with the most passionate supporting fans for all their teams in the city.  Just because The Maple Leafs and Montreal have been mediocre at best the last few years does that mean those aren't great hockey cities?  Course not, that'd be ridiculous.

Thread title says best in the world...Manchester, England has had a championship team 6 of the last 7 years.  How bout them eh?

I've lived in a few different major cities in the US and have spent time extensively in just about all major US cities and being completely unbiased, I can say that Chicago fans seem to be the most passionate, supportive, and knowledgable about ALL of their teams.

Gots to be room for LA in there somewhere...Lakers, Angels, Ducks, Kings, Dodgers, USC, UCLA softball... But no Pro-football? What the hell....can't count how many championships in the last 30 years.

philly and chicago def have the best fans. not sure about thier teams but thier fan basr is strong.

pittsburgh steelers fans are loyal too.

boston fans are all fairweathers. pay attention to celtics and thier fans next season. we will see the true color.

Chicago itself is just a HUGE sports town wether we suck or not... I like Boston a lot. Always got along with more or less all Bostonian's... I think Chicago will take the Cup this year though. Then again, I am a homer.

I think with success comes complacency. Red Sox/celtics/bruins/patriots fans have all tasted so much recent glory they don't feel the angst mistaken for passion Chicago fans do

not too many can claim 2 championships within 6 months of each other. Steelers in Feb 2009 and then Pens in June 2009.
