Georgetown leading-scorer Freeman has diabetes

Junior guard Austin Freeman, Georgetown's leading scorer, told the Washington Post he has diabetes.

The report said Freeman's status for upcoming games - including the Big East Tournament and the NCAA Tournament - is uncertain. He missed Monday night's loss to West Virginia with what was believed to be a stomach virus.

Freeman, 20, averages 17.0 points while shooting 47 percent from 3-point range. He told the newspaper that his long-term playing career should not be impacted.

The Hoyas wrap Big East play against the Cincinnati Bearcats Saturday. Sportsbook.com has Georgetown set at +4,000 to win the NCAA national championship.
