While the basketball world focuses on Madison Square Garden for Game 3 of the NBA Finals, the Commissioner’s Cup provides value in these WNBA picks on Monday, June 8.
Let's find out why Caitlin Clark, Jonquel Jones, and Flau'Jae Johnson highlight my favorite WNBA player props for this evening.

Caitlin Clark Over 18.5 points
This has not been a strong start to the season for either Caitlin Clark or the Indiana Fever. While the polarizing shooter started the season scoring 20+ points in the first five games, the Fever went only 3-2 in those games, in part because their defense was dragging. And the overall outlook has gotten worse.
Clark has not reached 20 points since May 22, and Indiana has gone 1-3 in those four games. The good news tonight should be the Washington Mystics’ even worse defense.
Washington ranks No. 11 in defensive rating this season, undone in part by giving up 37.0% from beyond the arc, the third-worst rate in the league. Perhaps just as concerning, the Mystics give up the seventh-most looks from deep per game despite playing at the third-slowest pace.
Indiana’s up-tempo approach should yield Caitlin Clark a bevy of long-range looks, and though she has not hit three 3-pointers in seven of her nine games this season, those looks alone should create other open shots for her.

Jonquel Jones Over 8.5 rebounds
On the surface, this is a foolish prop set by oddsmakers. Jonquel Jones has cleared this modest number in each of her last five games, averaging 12.2 rebounds per game in that stretch.
But they are presumably suggesting the New York Liberty will not need to stress much in this game, favored by 13.5 points against the woeful Connecticut Sun. While that is true, it discounts the importance of point differential in the Commissioner’s Cup.
New York may be the most superstar-laden team in the WNBA, and it may have enjoyed a fraudulent title two years ago, but splitting $500,000 amongst the roster is still a sizable carrot.
Expect the Liberty to play their stars well past the point when the game’s outcome is decided. They have reason to run up the score.
And at that point, Jones should play enough minutes to clear this foolishly low number.

Flau'jae Johnson Over 1.5 threes
No, Flau’jae Johnson is not shooting the lights out to start her rookie season, hitting only 26.3% of her 3-pointers, but when heaving from deep 4.8 times per game, those shots still add up.
Thus, Johnson has actually cleared this number in both of her last two games despite shooting an ugly 30.8% from beyond the arc in those two games.
And she should chuck plenty tonight.
The Las Vegas Aces play at a rapid pace, part of why opponents take 26 threes per game against them, the fifth-highest mark in the league. Las Vegas’ worry stems from opponents then hitting 36.2% of those shots, the fourth-highest mark in the league.
As bad as the Seattle Storm’s offense is — worst in the WNBA in offensive rating — it can do worse than setting up Johnson to take a bundle of those open threes that the Aces provide.
