For the Washington Mystics, Tuesday’s home loss to the Connecticut Sun was about as awful a blow to their playoff hopes as it gets.

They try to turn it around in Connecticut Thursday and avoid a home-and-home sweep at the hands of the league’s worst squad.

Our Mystics vs. Sun predictions and WNBA picks have the visitors in desperation mode and that should shine through in a game they must have.

The Washington Mystics were their own worst enemy in the 80-69 loss to Connecticut last game, turning it over 15 times that led to 21 points.

A team that scores just 79.2 points per game (10th), is second-worst in turnovers at 15.4 per contest, costing them 16 points against off those giveaways.

Sitting in 10th place of the WNBA standings, the loss has the Mystics 1.5 games back of the Seattle Storm for the eighth and final playoff spot, with just nine games to play.

For the Connecticut Sun, this is the third time this year it’s been able to win two out of three games, but they’ve yet to put up back-to-back wins all season.

The Sun’s two most recent wins have seen them hold the opponent to Under 70 points. It’s a small sample, but they’re second in points allowed in the last three games.

This was the first game the Mystics played Connecticut without Brittney Sykes, who they moved at the trade deadline. She was the game-high scorer in both Washington wins.

With a game to adjust, I think they crack this Sun defense the second time around, which sits a lowly 10th in scoring defense, allowing 86.2 points.

Throw in the desperation factor, and Washington should find a way to win on the road.

Mystics vs Sun same-game parlay (SGP)

Mystics moneyline

Tina Charles Over 5.5 rebounds

Sonia Citron Over 16.5 points

A couple of lower prop lines are worth adding to make this a 3-legged SGP.

Veteran Tina Charles has a very gettable 5.5 rebound line, considering she’s piled up at least six boards in five of her last seven games, and that she’s grabbed at least nine rebounds in every game against Washington this season.

Sonia Citron has also been handed a generous 16.5 scoring line, a figure she’s topped five times in the last six games. That includes the 19 she hung on Connecticut.
