Expert WNBA moneyline picks for August 16

Fever vs Dream: Dream (54% probability)

The Atlanta Dream’s backcourt can score big on the Indiana Fever backcourt, and I expect Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray to dominate Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell.

The Dream tandem consistently disrupts Indiana’s leaky perimeter defense, which is the main reason they surrender 93.1 points per game and 23.0 opponent assists.

Backed by an elite 103.8 defensive rating with an exceptional 35.6% offensive rebounding rate over their last five, I expect Atlanta to control both the glass and today’s matchup.

Play the Dream to 60%.

Sky vs Storm: Sky (55% probability)

The Chicago Sky hold a clear advantage on both ends of the floor against a slumping Seattle Storm squad that has dropped six of its last seven.

The Sky boast a balanced attack inside and out, giving up just 35.0 total rebounds per game while Seattle bleeds 94.6 points per contest on 37.4% three-point defense.

Seattle’s ugly -5.6 net rating and messy 14.4% turnover percentage won’t get enough transition stops to keep up with the Sky.

Expect Chicago’s ball movement (71.3 AST%) to exploit Seattle’s perimeter and secure the road victory.

Play the Sky to 65%.

Fire vs Mercury: Mercury (66% probability)

Four days of dedicated practice following an extended road trip provide the Phoenix Mercury the exact setup needed to assert control.

The Mercury’s veteran core holds a clear edge in defensive discipline, allowing just 15.7 points off turnovers per game compared to the Portland Fire’s league-worst 21.1 points allowed from miscues.

While the Fire push an aggressive pace, their high-risk style leads to costly live-ball turnovers.

I expect Alyssa Thomas and Kahleah Copper to capitalize on Portland’s perimeter vulnerabilities, control late-game possessions in the half-court, and protect home court with a steady, veteran-led victory.

Play the Mercury to 70%.
