Dream vs Valkyries Predictions, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s WNBA Game

The Valkyries defense has largely led the way for the first-year team in the thick of the playoff race. We think that defense will keep them within striking distance against the visiting Dream.

The expansion Golden State Valkyries continue punching upwards.

Tonight, they seek a fifth-straight win as they host the WNBA’s 2-seed Atlanta Dream, who just had their own six-game win streak snapped.

Our Dream vs. Valkyries predictions and WNBA picks have Golden State’s recent standout play at home as the difference maker on Sunday, August 17.

Dream vs Valkyries predictions

My Dream vs Valkyries best bet: Valkyries +4.5 (-115 at bet365)

The Golden State Valkyries defense continues to be a wrecking ball, as they ripped off a fourth straight win with a 90-59 drubbing of the Chicago Sky.

They kept three of four teams on this win streak in the 50-point range. As a team, the Valkyries allow the second-fewest points in the WNBA at a crisp 76.8.

The Atlanta Dream have been on an extended run away from home, picking up three straight wins before getting dropped by the Seattle Storm 80-78 in the WNBA’s first-ever regular-season game outside the US (played in Vancouver).

The Dream witnessed this elite Valkyrie defense firsthand, as they were defeated 77-75 by Golden State on July 29.

But Atlanta isn’t a slouch on that front, ranking right behind GState in third place in scoring defense, allowing 78.1 points per game, and dropped the Valkyries in their first meeting 90-81.

This is a good litmus test for Golden State, and it's catching Atlanta in a road-weary section of its schedule.

The Valkyries are 7-3 overall and against the spread at home in their last 10, and I like them staying in range against the Dream tonight.

Dream vs Valkyries same-game parlay (SGP)

Valkyries +4.5

Rhyne Howard Over 15.5 points

Tiffany Hayes Over 12.5 points

Atlanta's Rhyne Howard has been back from injury for three games and has been the team’s leading scorer in back-to-back contests.

Her line is a gettable 18.5, as she’s topped 20 points in both of those.

With Kayla Thornton done for the year following knee surgery, Tiffany Hayes has been among the team’s top scoring options. She’s topped her 12.5 scoring line in three straight and five of seven.

Hayes also bested this figure when she last played against Atlanta, going for 15 points.
