1978 (MLB): California Angles pitcher Nolan Ryan strikes out 15 Mariners over 9 innings but Seattle prevails 6-5 in 12 innings. The Mariners were +170 underdogs as Ryan hits the 15 strikeout mark for the 20th time in his career.
1994 (NBA): On the final day of the regular season, San Antonio center David Robinson becomes only the 4th NBA player to score 70 points in a game as he pours in 71 points in the Spurs' 112-97 victory at the LA Clippers. The Spurs easily covered as 6-point favorites as Robinson edges out Orlando's Shaquille O'Neal for the scoring title. Headed into the day Robinson was trailing O'Neal by 0.05 PPG but O'Neal would only score 32 in a victory against New Jersey.
