Junior guard Charles Matthews scored a career-high 31 points on 12 of 15 shooting to lead Michigan to a 97-47 rout of Alabama A&M on Thursday night at Crisler Center in Ann Arbor, Mich.
It was the fourth straight win for Michigan (11-3), which improved to 7-0 at home this year and has one more nonconference game Dec. 30 at home against Jacksonville before resuming conference play in the Big Ten.
Senior Duncan Robinson scored 18 points and senior Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman added 14 for Michigan, which shot 15 of 31 from behind the 3-point line and 61 percent overall.
Michigan separated itself toward the latter part of the first half, going on a 24-4 run to take a 43-17 lead with 4:35 remaining in the first half.
The Wolverines led 51-23 at halftime and built their lead up to as many as 53 points late in the second half.
Michigan forced 25 turnovers, and had 23 assists to only eight for Alabama A&M. The Bulldogs had 25 turnovers.
Senior Marcus Merriweather scored 16 points and junior Andre Kennedy added 10 points in defeat for Alabama A&M (0-12).
