Iowa State Cyclones vs Texas Christian Horned Frogs Box Score on Jan 04, 2020

RJ Nembhard scored a career-high 31 points, including the 3-pointer that sent the game into overtime and four points in the extra period as TCU outlasted visiting Iowa State 81-79 on Saturday in Big 12 Conference play in Fort Worth, Texas.

Iowa State's George Conditt converted a pair of pivotal free throws with 16 seconds remaining before Nembhard made one of two chances with 10 seconds left to bring the Horned Frogs to within 72-71.

Tyresse Haliburton made his final two free throws with 8 seconds remaining before Nembhard willed in a 40-footer off the bank with 1.7 seconds to play to send the game into overtime at 74-74.

Nembhard hit a free throw and then a 3-pointer to stake the Horned Frogs to a 78-74 lead 2:25 into overtime before Conditt's jumper 29 seconds later cut the advantage to two points.

A dunk for TCU's Edric Dennis was followed by a 3-pointer from Rasir Bolton with 30 seconds left. Francisco Farabello added a free throw for the Horned Frogs to leave open the door for Iowa State but Bolton's layup with 6 seconds left was blocked by Kevin Samuel, allowing TCU to escape with the win.

Desmond Bane and Samuel added 16 points each for the Horned Frogs (10-3, 1-0 in Big 12 play), who have won four of five games.

Haliburton led Iowa State (7-6) with 22 points. 11 rebounds and nine assists, with Conditt scoring 19, Bolton hitting for 17 points and Prentiss Nixon scoring 12.

The Horned Frogs made their final six field goals of the half and got a 3-pointer from Nembhard with 29 seconds remaining to leapfrog to a 39-38 lead at halftime.

TCU enjoyed a 51.7 percent to 46.9 percent edge in shooting from the floor. The Horned Frogs got 16 points from Bane (4 of 6 from beyond the arc) and 16 points from Samuel, who made 8 of his 11 field goal chances.

Haliburton paced the Cyclones with 12 first-half points.
