Miami @ Los Angeles preview

Dodger Stadium

Last Meeting ( Aug 25, 2012 ) Miami 2, LA Dodgers 8

Andre Ethier attempts to set a new franchise record Sunday as the Los Angeles Dodgers try to complete a sweep of their three-game series against the visiting Miami Marlins. Ethier posted his second straight 4-for-4 performance in Saturday's victory and has recorded a hit in 10 consecutive at-bats, matching the franchise mark set in 1919 by Ed Konetchy of the Brooklyn Robins. With his single in the seventh inning Saturday, Ethier eclipsed the Los Angeles Dodgers record previously held by Ron Cey, who produced nine straight hits in July 1977.

The Dodgers received an immediate payback from their blockbuster trade with the Boston Red Sox as Adrian Gonzalez homered in his first at-bat, becoming the sixth Los Angeles player to accomplish the feat and first since Juan Rivera last season. Los Angeles, which has fallen behind in the first inning in each of the first five contests of their six-game homestand, are only two games behind first-place San Francisco in the National League West. Miami has lost four in a row and is 4-6 on its 11-game road trip.

TV: 4:10 p.m. ET, FSN Florida (Miami), Prime Ticket (Los Angeles)

PITCHING MATCHUP: Marlins LH Mark Buehrle (11-11, 3.69 ERA) vs. Dodgers RH Aaron Harang (9-7, 3.65)

Buehrle has won each of his last two starts, allowing two runs over seven innings against Philadelphia on Aug. 15 and at Arizona five days later. The 33-year-old had surrendered 21 runs while going 0-3 in his previous five outings. Buehrle, who is 4-7 on the road, dropped to 3-2 lifetime against the Dodgers on Aug. 10, when he yielded four runs and seven hits in six frames.

Harang also enters with a two-start winning streak as he was won on the road in Pittsburgh and Atlanta on Aug. 13 and 18, respectively, while allowing a total of three runs in 12 2/3 innings. The 34-year-old is winless in his last three home outings, going 0-2 while surrendering 14 runs over 18 frames. Harang, who has won just two of his 10 home starts, is 5-3 with a 6.35 ERA in 12 career outings against the Marlins.

WALK-OFFS

1. Miami OF Giancarlo Stanton has belted 15 of his 28 home runs this year against NL West clubs.

2. Newly acquired RHP Josh Beckett will make his debut with the Dodgers at Colorado on Monday.

3. INF Nick Punto made his first appearance with Los Angeles on Saturday, drawing a walk as a pinch hitter and scoring the game's final run in the eighth inning.

About Units and “ROI”

Units are a standardized measurement used to determine the size of each of your bets relative to your bankroll. For example, if you have a bankroll of $200 and you bet 5% of your bankroll each time, each of your units is worth $10. A bettor with a $2000 bankroll who bets 5% per bet has units of $100. We use the number of units to standardize the amount the trend is up or down across different bet amounts.

ROI is the best indicator of success and measures how much you bet vs. how much you profited. Any positive ROI is good in sports betting with great long-term bettors sitting in the 5-7% range.
