Arizona Diamondbacks vs San Francisco Giants Box Score on Jun 30, 2019

Kevin Pillar drove in a career-high five runs with four hits Sunday afternoon, powering Madison Bumgarner to a win in his first career head-to-head meeting with Robbie Ray and the host San Francisco Giants to a 10-4 romp over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Bumgarner (5-7) won his second straight decision and beat the Diamondbacks for the second time this season, allowing just four hits and one run over seven innings.

The four-time All-Star, who never had been matched up with Ray in 33 career starts against Arizona, struck out nine and did not walk a batter.

Ray (5-6) lasted just four innings, charged with four runs on six hits. He walked three and struck out five.

As Bumgarner was retiring the first 10 batters he faced, the Giants got the jump on Ray in the second inning when Evan Longoria walked and Pillar followed with his 11th home run of the season, a two-run shot.

Pillar added a two-run single in the third to double the Giants' advantage, then helped the home team break the game open with an RBI single in a six-run seventh after Arizona had gotten back within 4-1.

Mike Yastrzemski produced the big hit of the seventh with a two-run double. Longoria and Pablo Sandoval also had RBI singles in the inning.

Arizona got on the board in the fifth when Nick Ahmed tripled off Bumgarner and scored on a sacrifice fly by Ildemaro Vargas.

The Diamondbacks, who had won two of the first three games in the series, completed the game's scoring with a three-run eighth against the San Francisco bullpen. Adam Jones, Ketel Marte and Christian Walker drove in the runs.

Needing a triple to complete a career-first cycle, Pillar lined out to right field in the bottom of the eighth, wrapping up a 4-for-5 afternoon.

The 30-year-old recorded four hits in a game for the fifth time in his career. As a member of the Toronto Blue Jays, he three times missed a cycle by a triple.

He previously had driven in four runs on six occasions, including three times since joining the Giants in April.

Buster Posey went 3-for-3 for the Giants in a 13-hit attack, while Pillar, Longoria and Brandon Belt scored twice apiece.

Jones had two hits for Arizona, which has gone 5-2 in games at San Francisco this season, but just 2-4 against the Giants at home.
