The week gives us the third Champions League matchday and Wednesday features Monaco and Tottenham meeting at Stade Louis II. Spurs are unbeaten in the competition and are looking for three valuable points against a winless Monaco side.

Spurs look much improved under Thomas Frank and have the potential to go deep into this competition, which is why our Monaco vs. Tottenham predictions expect the away side to head back to London with all three points.

Monaco vs Tottenham picks and predictions

My Monaco vs Tottenham best bet: Tottenham moneyline (+120 at Sports Interaction)

Spurs come into this on the back of a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa but that was just their second competitive defeat of the season, with Thomas Frank turning Tottenham into a far stronger team than when he took over this summer. They started their Champions League campaign well, beating Villareal and drawing against Bodoe/Glimt in a tricky away tie.

Monaco got thrashed 4-1 by Club Brugge but did manage a draw against Man City in their second Champions League contest. However, Wednesday’s game will take place over a month since Monaco’s last win, and this is a team who’ve won just four of 10 games this season.

Sitting seventh in Ligue 1 isn’t where Monaco want to be but the biggest issue facing them has been the defense. They’ve given up 12 goals through eight Ligue 1 games, which is more than anybody else in the top half of the league. They’re missing a number of key players, particularly those in defensive roles, which will make them susceptible to Tottenham's attack.

We’ve seen Spurs score 14 times in eight league games and 1.5 per game in the Champions League so far, and they should find it easy to score against a Monaco team who’ve only kept one clean sheet all season and have allowed 2+ goals in five of their previous six games.

Against this leaky Monaco side, Frank's team will snag all three points.

Monaco vs Tottenham same-game parlay (SGP)

Tottenham to win

Both teams to score: Yes

Joao Palhinha to be shown a card

We’re also backing both teams to score in this game. Spurs have conceded in four straight games after starting the season defensively very strong. Meanwhile, Monaco have seen both teams score in nine of 10 games so far this season across Ligue 1 and the Champions League.

The final leg of the SGP is for Joao Palhinha to get shown a card. The Portuguese midfielder has added bite and tough tackling to the Spurs midfield but he’s been prone to pick up a card throughout his career.

He’s already been booked twice for Spurs in eight Premier League games and is averaging 1.4 fouls per game. The 30-year old has racked up 73 yellow cards and two reds across his career.
