looking for a review of the new "The Day the Earth Stood Still"

the 1951 Michael Rennie, Patricia Neal, Hugh Marlowe, Sam Jaffe is a must see SciFi classic BUT just from what I have seen on the movie's trailers this Keanu Reeves as Klaatu version looks VERY wierd and off the wall. seen some "don't bother until it's on DVD" reviews from critics BUT I would like to get some opinions from Covers members that have seen it before the wife and I go spend the time and $$$

no one @ Covers has seen this movie? I guess that should tell me something right there.

horrible movie my friend but i huge critic on movies

thanks for the opinion, lw1nBets

I was checking Rotten Tomatoes.com today day and the "top critics" really BLASTED the movie. +/- was 1-19 just one the first page.

Keanu Reeves won't ever see a cent of my money.

I downloaded and watched a very good copy of it Friday.

Never cost me a cent and yet I still feel I was cheated.

Except for a few good special effects....it looked like something that was made 20 years ago.

Terrible from start to finish.....Very disappointing just like "The Happening"

thanx, coldsnap55. it's sounding like this movie is a complete waste. it's a shame they would tar maybe the most thoughtful of the early SciFi's by ripping off the name.
