Two teams that have really struggled out of the gate clash tonight as the New York Rangers visit the Calgary Flames.

My Rangers vs. Flames predictions expect this game to be a low-scoring affair as both offenses remain stagnant.

Rangers vs Flames prediction

Rangers vs Flames Best bet: Under 5.5 (-115)

There’s not much need for deliberation here: This matchup features the two-lowest scoring teams in hockey, and offense will remain at a premium Sunday.

Imagine where the Rangers would be if they could just put the puck in the net. New York is scoring at a 2.33 per game rate, with only the Calgary Flames beneath them.

Defensively, they’re one of the best at keeping their end nice and tidy, as they allow just 2.33 goals per game, a Top 3 mark in the NHL.

During their down streak, New York has held its opponents to two goals or less four times in six games.

This is a gettable win for both teams, but until either can show they can be trusted to execute a game plan, the total is the best play.

The Under has cashed in five straight head-to-head meetings between the Rangers and Flames, with every result staying Under Sunday’s line of 5.5 goals. Expect these clubs to stay on trend in what could be a rock fight.

Rangers vs Flames same-game parlay

Since scoring opening night, Nazem Kadri’s offensive impact has been minimal, as he’s picked up an assist in four of the last six games. That’s good enough to have him lead the Flames in scoring with five points.

Since joining Calgary, he’s picked up two goals and an assist in six games against the Rangers. Even if there isn’t a lot of scoring, I expect Kadri to be in the middle of things against New York.

Between two teams struggling mightily, I think the home-ice edge will help Calgary pull out an ugly win.
