The Winnipeg Jets host the Carolina Hurricanes in a tape-measuring matchup at the Canada Life Centre tonight.

It’s a bout between a pair of contenders, and my Hurricanes vs. Jets predictions are calling for Winnipeg backup Eric Comrie to have a busy night between the pipes.

Hurricanes vs Jets prediction

Hurricanes vs Jets Best bet: Eric Comrie Over 25.5 saves (-130)

Winnipeg Jets No. 1 goalie Connor Hellebuyck is out indefinitely following the announcement he’ll undergo minor arthroscopic knee surgery, so it’s Eric Comrie’s net in the ‘Peg for the foreseeable future.

The Carolina Hurricanes pace the NHL in Corsi For percentage and attempts per 60 minutes at five-on-five, while Winnipeg ranks 29th in CF% and has allowed the sixth-most attempts per 60. Of course, the Hurricanes also pace the league in shots per game with 34.2.

Comrie has been solid on home ice since joining Winnipeg with a .914 SV% and 2.39 GAA across 11 appearances dating back to last season, which includes tidy .918 and 2.33 marks this year.

Still, a main draw is Carolina’s relentless attack, and I’m expecting shots from the Hurricanes early and often at the Canada Life Centre tonight.

Hurricanes vs Jets same-game parlay

Winnipeg has been dominant at home, and Comrie has been solid as well, winning all three of his starts at the Canada Life Centre this year.

Despite both teams having long-standing trends to the Under, I’m expecting some offense in the ‘Peg tonight. After all, Carolina ranks second in goals per game (3.61), and Winnipeg checks in sixth (3.32).
