The Edmonton Oilers have a chance to put the Vegas Golden Knights on the brink of elimination with a victory Monday night.
My Golden Knights vs. Oilers predictions see the home team doing just that in a bounce-back effort after a dramatic Game 3 defeat at the buzzer.
Let’s take a closer look at my NHL picks for May 12.
Who will win Golden Knights vs Oilers Game 4?
Vegas was able to steal Game 3, but it’s pretty hard to back them to do it again. They have several key players – Mark Stone, Pavel Dorofeyev, and Brayden McNabb, among others – who will either be out of the lineup or playing hampered due to injuries.
The Golden Knights don’t have the superstar power the Oilers do with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, nor do they have home ice.
The Oilers should take care of business in Game 4 and put the Golden Knights on the ropes heading back to Vegas.
Golden Knights vs Oilers prediction
My Golden Knights vs Oilers pick: Oilers moneyline (-130 at BET99)
The Edmonton Oilers have really impressed with their play of late. They’ve won six of the last seven games and have posted strong underlying numbers to boot.
Through three games against the Vegas Golden Knights, they’ve been able to control 56.72% of the high-danger chances at 5-on-5. Their +8 high-danger chance differential is second-best among all teams in this round of the playoffs.
With Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and Evan Bouchard, the Oilers possess three of the best weapons in the sport at their respective positions.
They also have improved scoring depth with Zach Hyman and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins starting to produce like they’re capable of. Not to mention, the return of Evander Kane has given them a jolt on the wing.
Simply put, the Oilers have a lot of firepower and don’t need many opportunities to make opponents pay. That makes them nearly impossible to beat when also generating more chances than giving up, which has been the case in this series.
It’s going to be tough for the Golden Knights to change that in Game 4.
They’re on the road, they may be without captain Mark Stone, and several important figures are already playing at well below 100%. That’s not a great recipe for success.
Golden Knights vs Oilers same-game parlay (SGP)
Evan Bouchard has been a massive difference-maker in this series. He has four points through three games and effectively drove the offense from the backend.
The Oilers have generated 114 shot attempts, 51 shots on target, nine goals, and 6.49 expected goals during Bouchard’s minutes. No player on either team has bested Bouchard’s on-ice outputs in any of those categories.
He’s logging a ton of minutes and the Oilers are constantly threatening the Golden Knights with him on the ice. So long as that continues, the points should be there.
Going the other way, Tomas Hertl has cleared this line in two of his last three road games and is coming off a six-shot effort in Game 3.
He doesn’t see the toughest matchups and, given injuries to key Golden Knights players, will be given every opportunity to step up.
