The Columbus Blue Jackets are a dream matchup for opposing shooters. They rank dead last in shot suppression over the past 10 games while playing at the league’s highest pace.
They’ve been especially vulnerable to giving up shots to defensemen. Only the Pittsburgh Penguins allowed more volume to blueliners over the last 10 games, and the gap is inconsequential.
Quinn Hughes averages well over seven shot attempts per game, leading the Vancouver Canucks in that regard. He never leaves the ice, playing well over 26 minutes per night.
He’s also due for some positive shooting regression in terms of hitting the target. Only 32% of his attempts have made it to the net, well below the near 40% clip he hit at last season.
As a more than willing shooter in a dream positional matchup – and pace-up spot – all the stars are aligning for a ceiling performance from Hughes.
