The two best teams in the Big East clash tonight in Storrs where the No. 6 ranked UConn Huskies host the No. 15 St. John's Red Storm.

The Johnnies beat the Huskies 81-72 earlier this month and my St. John's vs. UConn predictions are betting on the Over to cash again.

Here are my best free college basketball picks for this marquee matchup on Wednesday, February 25.

St. John’s vs UConn prediction

St. John’s vs UConn best bet: Over 147 (-110)

These teams combined for 153 points in the previous meeting despite the St. John's Red Storm shooting 26% from deep and both sides generating far fewer offensive rebounds than usual.

The UConn Huskies have an elite half-court defense but can be beaten in transition and the Johnnies are 20th in the country in fastbreak ppg (15.2). St. John's also ranks 21st in free throw rate while UConn sits outside the top 300 in opponent FT rate.

That said, the Huskies shoot a sizzling 37.9% from deep in conference play and the Johnnies struggle to defend the arc against quality offenses.

St. John’s vs UConn same-game parlay

This is a revenge spot for the Huskies and that along with home-court advantage should lead to a win.

That said, the Johnnies are a tough matchup for them since they get to the line and force turnovers at a high rate which line up perfectly with UConn's biggest flaws. We saw that in the previous clash where St. John's had a 31-12 edge in free throw attempts and forced 15 turnovers.

The Johnnies are 9-4 ATS on their current 13-game win streak while the Huskies are just 3-11 ATS in last 14. Backing St. John's on the spread and taking UConn on the ML, makes for a great multiplier in this SGP.
