Creighton hits the road and will be hard-pressed to replicate its upset efforts once again when it faces off against St. John’s. The Jays are coming off a bit of a shocker, an upset win over Connecticut.

Things won’t be as enjoyable today against the Red Storm.

My Creighton vs. St. John's predictions and college basketball picks tell you why I expect Creighton to struggle on Saturday, February 21.

Creighton vs St. John's prediction

Creighton vs St. John's best bet: St John’s -12 (-116)

I made this line closer to St. John’s -14, so backing the Johnnies to cover is straightforward. The matchup hits the Creighton Bluejays’ biggest season-long issue: opposing frontcourts.

The Jays are allowing a bit over 1.0 PPP on big cut-and-roll actions, and they’ve been even worse cleaning the glass, giving up 1.16 PPP on put-backs/offensive-rebound scores.

That’s been the bread and butter of St. John's this season with the two-headed attack of Zuby Ejiofor and Bryce Hopkins.

They rank in the 70th percentile in both areas, expect them to ride it to an easy victory.

Creighton vs St. John's same-game parlay

The story of this matchup is Zuby Ejiofor at the rim.

In the first meeting, St. John’s didn’t need it because they shot over 50% from three. That’s the outlier path.

The repeatable path is much simpler: Creighton’s rim protection is the soft spot, and Ejiofor’s strength/finishing inside is exactly how you punish it. That’s why I’m playing Ejiofor over 16.5 points in this SGP.

I paired it with under 4.5 assists for the same reason. Even in the heater game, he only got there with a few late helpers. St. John's will lean into a scoring-first Ejiofor script, making 4.5 feel inflated.

Creighton vs St. John's SGP

  • St John’s -12
  • Zuby Ejiofor Over 16.5 points
  • Zuby Ejiofor Under 4.5 assists

Our beyond the arc SGP: Fade Dix

What do you do when you have an off-the-dribble dependent scorer playing against a team full of very good individual defenders? You fade that player. That’s exactly what I’ve done for my long shot.

Josh Dix struggled in the first matchup earlier this season with just seven points on 3-of-9 shooting. With St. John’s ranking in the 70th percentile of isolation defense and having improved since that first matchup, I don’t see that changing. I’ll take his points under for this longshot parlay.

Creighton vs St. John's SGP

  • St John’s -12
  • Zuby Ejiofor Over 16.5 points
  • Zuby Ejiofor Under 4.5 assists
  • Josh Dix Under 12.5 points
