Against the Spread (ATS) Pick
This Western Conference showdown should be an intriguing one. The Warriors and Nuggets got off to slow starts this season, but both had also started to turn things around in winning four of their last five games before each dropping their last game. Golden State is coming off a 104-95 defeat to the Indiana Pacers, while the Nuggets fell 122-116 to the pre-James Harden Brooklyn Nets.
Curry has carried the load on offense for the Warriors, averaging 27.8 points with 6.4 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game. The Warriors' biggest problem this season has been that if someone has been able to lock down Curry they have not gotten reliable scoring from elsewhere on the court.
While the Nuggets’ offense is cooking behind Nikola Jokic, luckily for the Warriors the defense has been lacking. Denver ranks 25th in defensive rating and 26th in opponent field goal percentage and has struggled against stars, with the like of Kevin Durant and Luka Doncic going off against them.
The Warriors aren’t much to write home about on defense either, but with Draymond Green back near 100 percent, you can see the impact he makes on the court and should give Jokic some problems in this game. We’re taking the points with the underdog Dubs in this one.
PREDICTION: Warriors +5 (-110)
Over/Under Pick
Yes, the Nuggets were outgunned by KD the last time out, but you can’t overlook how good Jokic and this offense has been. Jokic leads the team in scoring (24.3), rebounding (10.9) and assists (10.5) per game this season, as his incredible vision creates great looks for his teammates. As a result, the Nuggets have the NBA’s best field goal percentage, rank second in offensive rating ad have averaged 118.2 points per contest over their last six games.
While the Warriors defense is improving, they still allow 115.5 points per game and let opponents shoot nearly 40 percent from 3-point range. Mix in the Nuggets’ leaky defense and this game is primed to eclipse the number.
PREDICTION: Over 225.5 (-110)
Player Prop
The Warriors have struggled to get consistent scoring outside of Curry, but that hasn’t really mattered against subpar defensive teams—and the Nuggets fall into that category. Curry is coming off consecutive tough outings, scoring a combined 31 points against the Pacers and Raptors, but those are teams with backcourts that can make life hard on him.
In the seven games prior, where the toughest defense Curry faced was probably the Clippers, he averaged 33.9 points per game. It’s hard to keep the two-time MVP down for long, so Curry should cook in this matchup and is a good bet to go Over his points total.
PREDICTION: Steph Curry Over 27.5 Points (-110)
Warriors vs Nuggets Betting Card
- Warriors +5 (-110)
- Over 225.5 (-110)
