Against the spread (ATS) pick
It’s been quite a while since we’ve seen the Jazz at full strength, but they’re finding ways to win without Donovan Mitchell and Mike Conley. One of the big reasons for that is the play of Joe Ingles, who has essentially slid over from forward to point guard. Over the last two games, Ingles is averaging 14.0 points and 9.0 assists per game for Utah, and that comes after an April in which he averaged 13.1 points and 4.9 assists per contest. Ingles has upped his offensive production while continuing to play well on the defensive end, too.
As always, the Jazz are also getting a ton from Rudy Gobert, who just might be having the best season of his career. On the year, Gobert is averaging 14.4 points and 13.4 rebounds per game, and he's also chipping in a career-high 2.8 blocks a night. With him protecting the rim against a Spurs team that's without Derrick White for the rest of the season, Utah is going to be feeling great about its chances in this one.
Not only do the Jazz have a couple of defenders that they can throw at DeMar DeRozan in this one, but they also have guys like Bojan Bogdanovic and Jordan Clarkson that can get hot in a hurry. Over the last five games, only the Cavaliers have a worse defensive rating than the Spurs, so they can’t currently be trusted to go out there and stay attached to shooters. Bogdanovic had 25 points in Utah’s 110-99 win over San Antonio on Monday.
PREDICTION: Jazz -6 (-110)
Over/Under pick
While the Spurs aren’t defending well at the moment, the Jazz still are.
Utah is eighth in the league in defensive rating in that same five-game window, and the team should be able to keep things tightened up on that end against a San Antonio group that is missing its best point guard. Also, both of these teams play at a rather slow pace, with each of them averaging under 100 possessions per 48 minutes this season.
The Under certainly isn’t a lock in a game with two brilliant offensive coaches on the sidelines, but it does seem like the better option of the two. Just the other night, these teams combined to score only 209 points.
PREDICTION: Under 218.5 (-110)
Player prop pick
When these teams met on Monday, Gobert had 24 points in 30 minutes of action. Utah was looking for him pretty often, but San Antonio also had no answer for him on the glass. Gobert had four offensive rebounds in that game, and that buys him a few extra looks from very close to the rim.
Gobert is an excellent finisher, so this is just a great matchup for him. He might not score 20 points tonight, but this total seems a little too low.
