What happens in Vegas? The final two rounds of the NBA Cup, as the semifinals tip off in Sin City on Saturday night.
The action opens with the Orlando Magic facing the New York Knicks, with the Knickerbockers looking to repeat last Sunday’s result by handing Orlando another loss as they chase a spot in the NBA Cup Final.
There’s some awesome star power when looking at my Knicks vs. Magic predictions as I dish on my NBA picks for the first matchup of the night.
Knicks vs Magic prediction
Knicks vs Magic best bet: Knicks -5 (-110)
The New York Knicks are heading to Las Vegas, playing their best basketball of the season. They have won eight in a row straight-up and against the spread, including that 106-100 win over these same Orlando Magic just last Sunday.
The Knicks are second in the NBA in net rating during this nine-game stretch, trailing only the Oklahoma City Thunder.
On the other side, things have been a little more up-and-down for the Magic. They enter this NBA Cup semifinal 5-3 SU and 3-5 ATS over the last eight games, and things have been made that much more difficult with star forward Franz Wagner now sidelined with an ankle injury.
The Magic were able to take out the Miami Heat in the semifinals thanks to some red-hot shooting from beyond the arc. Orlando went 15-for-32 (47%) from three-point range.
Now, the Knicks have struggled at times to defend the perimeter at times early on this season. But they’re getting healthy with guys like OG Anunoby back in the lineup.
As a result, New York has allowed the third-lowest opponent three-point shooting percentage during this nine-game period. And in that recent meeting, the Knicks held the Magic to 12-of-42 (29%) shooting from three.
The Magic will have to hit some shots if they want to upset the Knicks in Sin City on Saturday night. I just think New York is playing too well as a team right now. I’ll lay the points with the New York.

Knicks vs Magic same-game parlay
The Knicks are one of the best rebounding teams in the NBA, ranking fifth in rebounding rate heading into this matchup, and have gotten even better with the return of OG Anunoby.
Anunoby has been back for three games and has gone for six and seven rebounds in the last two.
The Magic know they need to put up some three-balls if they want to win this game, but as noted, the Knicks perimeter defense has improved and that should mean lots of long boards up for grabs for OG. So, add Over 4.5 rebounds for Anunoby to this SGP.
But speaking of shots, not many have been putting up more for the Magic recently than Jalen Suggs. He has put up 8.3 threes per game over his last seven games and has hit three or more four times over that stretch.
And with Wagner out, the Magic might need even more from Suggs in this one. So, round out this SGP with Suggs to go Over 2.5 made threes.
